  • ‘The King’s Speech’ trailer

What else can we really say about “The King’s Speech” at this point? The bulk of two Off the Carpet columns have already been dedicated to this early frontrunner. It captured audience support at Toronto. And now we wait for it to open and, hopefully, pull in some decent coin. The Weinstein Company has released the first trailer for the film via Yahoo! Movies and it’s a bit awkwardly edited for my tastes, but at least you all finally get a good look at what’s in store. Check it out by clicking the image below or watch an embed after the jump.

  • ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1’ trailer

I’ve said before that the “Harry Potter” films are frankly just collapsing in on one another in my head as of late. I can’t tell them apart. But then, I’m not overly interested in the series and I recognize there are tons of people out there who are. With that in mind, the anticipation around “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” (which has been divided into two parts) is at a fever pitch. I may just sit down and rock out a marathon and square it all away in my mind before diving into the final two installments. We got a teaser for the whole shebang back in June.  Now a new trailer specifically for Part 1 has been released via Yahoo! Movies. Check it out by clicking the image below or watch an embed after the jump.

  • ‘Red Hill’ trailer

Okay, so “Red Hill” has about as much of a future in awards season as I do in pro football, but I can’t resist flagging up this trailer anyway — because Patrick Hughes’s debut feature, which I reviewed in brief at the Berlinale in February, is pretty much a blast. A gleefully schlocky, but genuinely jolting, comedy-western-horror hybrid from Down Under, it’s one of the year’s most spirited and inventive genre outings, and also makes a very strong case for “True Blood” star Ryan Kwanten as a leading man. My only question is why Sony is rolling out such obvious Halloween fodder on November 5. Click on the image below to check out the trailer via Apple, or watch the embed after the jump.

  • ‘Tangled’ trailer

Disney’s latest throwback, “Tangled,” could make a real dent this fall, which could harness a nomination for Best Animated Feature Film by season’s end.  But it’ll have DreamWorks’s “Megamind” to contend with in the same frame.  Gerard doesn’t seem to think it’ll make the cut, and I’ll confess I’m not entirely impressed by the latest trailer, but I’m looking forward to the film regardless.  Check out the trailer via Apple by clicking the link below or watch an embed after the jump.

  • ‘Casino Jack’ trailer

Back when it looked like the film might be called “Bagman,” a sharp trailer was released for the film (which is still called “Casino Jack”).  Now that ATO Pictures has acquired domestic rights, naturally, a new trailer has emerged.  Check it out via Apple by clicking the image below or watch an embed after the jump.

  • ‘The Fighter’ trailer

In yesterday’s “what could be the frontrunner” rant, one of the titles I noted could really change things up by year’s end is David O. Russell’s “The Fighter.” Every indication I’ve received is that it’s a powerful piece of work and that Christian Bale is outstanding (so much so that a lead actor push was considered at one point).  Well the trailer has just launched via Apple and it looks like a high gloss prestige pic that could absolutely strike the right chord.  Check it out by clicking the link below or watch an embed after the jump.

  • ‘The Tourist’ trailer

Sony recently announced a December release date for Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s English language debut “The Tourist,” starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. It’s likely o be a commercial play (that will nevertheless be an SEO dream for webmasters), but the recently debuted trailer showcases a delightful performance from Depp. Check it out at Yahoo! Movies by clicking the image below or watch an embed after the jump.  (Believe it or not there was actually a press release issued Monday announcing the upcoming launch of this trailer.  Soon enough it’ll be the press release announcing the press release.)

  • ‘For Colored Girls’ trailer

Ever since Lionsgate announced a November 5 release date for Tyler Perry’s “For Colored Girls,” talk has circulated around an expected Oscar campaign. A set of posters dropped recently that went a long way toward showcasing the female acting talent on display. But is it a contender? Could one of these ladies (or the film itself) slide into the race? Or should we expect the usual from Perry? Lionsgate did a fine job launching “Precious” on the same release date last year, but it also had a headwind coming out of the Sundance and Cannes film festivals.  We’ll have to wait and see.  The new trailer for Perry’s film, released today at Yahoo! Movies, is at the very least handsomely mounted. Have a look by clicking the image below or watch an embed after the jump.

  • ‘Mildred Pierce’ trailer

Okay, this isn’t theatrical coverage, but one of the projects I’ve had my eye on for some time is Todd Haynes’s remake/re-adaptation of “Mildred Pierce.” It has been developed as a mini-series and looks incredibly striking, if viewed through a much different prism than Michael Curtiz’s original film.  Check out new trailer for the event after the jump.

  • ‘Hereafter’ trailer

Clint Eastwood’s “Hereafter” is set to play Toronto this Sunday.  No screenings in LA until after the festival but there have been a few vague reactions already.  The story revolves around current event disasters (the London tube bombings, the Sri Lanka tsunami, etc.) to tell a story of, you know, death and stuff.  The trailer just released via Apple and looks properly somber, revolving mostly around Matt Damon’s character (of the reported triptych).  What else to say other than that?  Check it out by clicking the link below or watch an embed after the jump.

  • ‘Country Strong’ trailer

One of the lurking titles this Oscar season is Shana Feste’s “Country Strong,” currently set for a limited release on December 22.  Screen Gems could make a play for Gwyneth Paltrow, but it’s competitive terrain (Monday’s Off the Carpet will survey the strongest lead actress category in years).  Perhaps it’s too easy to chalk it up as “Crazy Heart” with a girl, but all the songs are original, I’m told, so at the very least something could happen there.  Check out the trailer after the jump.

  • ‘Megamind’ trailer

DreamWorks has already released a couple of trailers for the animated “Megamind,” but the latest (via Apple) is probably the last full-length one we’ll get in advance of the November 5 release.  I really liked what I saw of the film at Comic-Con this year and given that we’re likely to see five nominees in the animated feature category this year due to a rule change broadening what is considered feature length, it could have a fighting chance.  But the competition is stiff, and not just from the usual suspects.  Check out the trailer by clicking the image below or watch the embed after the jump.

  • ‘Tamara Drewe’ trailer

This afternoon I received a copy of Posy Simmonds’s graphic novel “Tamara Drewe,” which has been adapted as a film by director Stephen Frears.  A nice bit of promotion, though I must admit, this has been way off my radar all year.  Guy was no fan at all when he saw it at Cannes, but it’s set to hit the festival circuit in the coming weeks.  The trailer just launched via Yahoo! Movies.  Check it out by clicking the image below or watch the embed on the jump.

  • ‘127 Hours’ teaser trailer

Set to play the fall festival circuit is Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours,” which could offer a tour de force opportunity for actor James Franco.  The recently released teaser trailer over at Apple indicates the kind of energy we’ve come to expect of filmmaker Danny Boyle but doesn’t give us much in the way of a thematic landscape to fully grasp.  Not yet, anyway.  I imagine future materials will pull the layers back further, but for now, check out the trailer by clicking the image below or watch the embed on the jump.

  • ‘Inside Job’ trailer

I reviewed Charles Ferguson’s smart financial recession study at Cannes in May, describing it as “a thorough, incisive if faintly dry breakdown of the current economic crisis that plays a little like last year’s “Capitalism: A Love Story” on a heavy dose of Ritalin.” Most other critics are less measured in their praise; though there are no sure things with the Academy’s wilful documentary branch, the film looks a cinch to score an Oscar nod, and very possibly the win too. The Sony Pictures Classics acquisition will play Toronto next month, before hitting US theaters on October 8. Apple has the first trailer; click on the image to check it out there, or watch the embed after the jump.

  • ‘Another Year’ UK trailer

At Cannes, I was with the critical majority in admiring Mike Leigh’s latest, and the valentines will surely continue to roll in when the film plays Toronto next month ahead of an awards-season run. The Guardian (quite the experts lately in nabbing British trailer exclusives) has the first trailer for the film, which gives a pretty accurate sense of the film’s delicate pitch between dry comedy and crushing drama. Interestingly, rather than granting the spotlight to Lesley Manville’s showy, buzz-generating turn, it represents the film as the ensemble piece it is; one wonders if Sony Pictures Classics will be quite so democratic with the US trailer. Click on the image to check it out at the Guardian site, or watch the embed after the jump.

  • ‘Fair Game’ trailer

Actress Naomi Watts is front and center as an awards prospect in Doug Liman’s “Fair Game,” and the trailer, recently launched via Yahoo! Movies, certainly conveys as much as well. At Cannes, however, the film didn’t really set things ablaze. Guy was measured in his appreciation of the film at Cannes.  We’ll see what Summit can do with a campaign but for now, it’s clearly being positioned as a thriller to bring in the dollars.  Check out the trailer by clicking the image below or watch the embed after the jump.
