OSCAR PREDICTION CHARTS — May 25, 2009

NUTSHELL: The obvious news throughout the tech charts this time around is the presence of Jane Campion’s “Bright Star” in virtually every category. The film was heralded for its lush below-the-line features across the board when it debuted at Cannes and as a result of that and potential Best Picture placement, it has a lot of muscle in these fields. Weak box office results for “Watchmen” and “Terminator Salvation” may have cost those films some bargaining chips here, while the opposite is true of “Star Trek.” We’re all still waiting for “Avatar,” though.
