OSCAR PREDICTION CHARTS — December 2, 2008

NUTSHELL: Once again, the crafts arenas have changed very little this week, though I find myself at a loss in the Best Original Song category beyond two seemingly locked contenders. A real mess. Meanwhile, as various films continue to disappoint, I’m beginning to wonder if efforts like “Hellboy II: The Golden Army” and “Valkyrie” can find a foothold. Meanwhile, definite tech contenders such as “Defiance” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” are seeing doors open as they close on unsuspecting late entry contenders, so there is a lot that can happen here. All we can do is keep our eye on it.
