‘Mildred Pierce’ trailer

Posted by · 7:57 am · September 13th, 2010

Okay, this isn’t theatrical coverage, but one of the projects I’ve had my eye on for some time is Todd Haynes’s remake/re-adaptation of “Mildred Pierce.” It has been developed as a mini-series and looks incredibly striking, if viewed through a much different prism than Michael Curtiz’s original film.  Check out new trailer for the event after the jump.

I still love Dario Marianelli’s Atonment score.

On topic, though, Winslet’s a good enough reason to see just about anything by now, but this looks great. Can’t wait.

Tim: For a spoken-word recording, yes. That said, she did have a Top 10 single in the UK with “What If.”

My God, that looks so gay. As in Douglas Sirk gay. Which may be a good think if you actually like Douglas Sirk pictures. And not so good if you don’t.

I’m just happy to see Guy Pearce in something high profile. It’s obviously been his own career choice to not go the big Hollywood movie route, but it’s a little sad to only see him in small roles/cameos and hear about him in Australian movies you never get to see.

They might as well give Winslet her Emmy now. No point getting the other nominees’ hopes up.

I don’t like the use of the Atonement music here. While I absolutely love that score, it is so distinct that it does nothing but evoke Atonement and shift the focus away from the project it’s being featured in.

I didn’t know this was being directed by Todd Haynes until a week ago. As if there weren’t enough reason to be dying to see this.

Then… Guy Pierce and Evan Rachel Wood?? CANNOT wait for this. I hope Wood gets a nomination as well.

Evan Rachel Wood’s career is really shaping up to be the most prestigious of anybody her generation.
