I’m out of here, down to the Palladium for tonight’s festivities. Maybe I’ll Tweet this or that, maybe not. Use this space to discuss the winners and losers as you see fit (unless Guy happens to wander in with a dedicated thread). The show starts at 9:00pm EST, 6:00pm EST on VH1.

Guy, I’m afraid, will not be wandering in with a dedicated thread.
Have fun at the big boy table with George and Jason, man. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
OK, maybe Gandhi, but something tells me he’d be more of an Avatar fan.
Will Guy at least be watching?
If anyone has a method for watching this outside the US, please share it with us poor souls! :)

Basterds’ first win of the night
w00t for first Basterds win!
Monique get the SUPPORTING ACTRESS AWARD, BIG CHEERS over AVATAR, wow!!
AVATAR wins BEST ACTION FILM
This host character is awful, as are Avatar wins.
I saw you!
Unfortunately I’m away from a television at the moment, I’ll comment when I find out exactly what has been going on.
This show is PAINFUL to watch
Video at VH1.com is so annoying. All I saw during Waltz’s acceptance speech was Matt Damon.
The show itself is awful, but the acceptances by the Avatar producer and Christoph Waltz were pretty solid.
Kristen Chenaworth or whoever this is needs to stfu.
Chenowith is so painful…and enough with the ‘girls’ already!
So I have to sit through things like Best Song, but Best Foreign Film is passed by like stale confetti? The one award that has to cover the work of every other country in the world because people are too stupid to enjoy foreign films?
i wish other movies would win besides avatar and sarah silverman is not funny the comedy is not working
AVATAR won 6 awards already
-Action Film
-Art Direction
-Editing
-Sound
-Visual Effects
-Cinematography
The audience seems to love Quentin. Why is Bigelow such a sure thing for Director this year?
@James D.: Because she just won. :P
Did Basterds take home 3 awards already or am I receiving wrong information?
Giacchino for Score!!!!
Adam: Yes, but I am wondering why she became the unanimous pick.
AI: Yes. Ensemble, Waltz, and Best Original Screenplay.
@Al
-Enseble CAST
-Supporting Actor
-Original Screenplay
Jeff Bridges’s response to making a successful marriage for 33 years: “Not getting a divorce.”
Bullock ties with Streep. Is it Critics choice or People’s choice ?
I sense Avatar will win in best picture. Please may that be true. Or Basters, both are good.
Oh my. And so it begins… A tie between Meryl and Bullock. They really are trying to predict the Oscars!!
“Wonder who will win? Well, let’s give ’em both one!”
Now Bullock will take the GG and SAG too and then there’s no stopping it on March 7th. Just as I feared :(
thanks to Yogsam and James D. for confirming.
Also, Im happy for the Up wins, assuming they’re real as well.
Nice one, Hurt Locker edging through after Avatar and Inglourious Basterds dominated most of the night!
It’s a shame that Bullock is even being remotely considered.
I honestly never thought Sandra had a shot at a Critic’s award but I get why she won. She knows how to make a good speech like Meryl, this is something the younger actresses can’t compete with…star power. They were great up there.
Avatar won 6 awards, Basterds got 3, Hurt Locker 2, and Up in the Air just 1
Sad…no A SERIOUS MAN : (
I called 15/25, not so good on the technical stuff…
So happy for Bigelow and The Hurt Locker, let’s keep the momentum!
The academy will not give the Oscar to Bullock. Period. End of story. Streep will take it…
And sentimentalism wins again. Boring.
Well, buzz goes up now for Bullock, Hurt Locker, Avatar, & Inglourious.
Up in the Air got it’s predicted Writing. But I think many hoped/predicted for 2, 3, or 4 possible wins.
Oh, and I saw you Kris. Good times. Hope you had a blast.
Im only referring to best picture by the way…
Woo, The Hurt Locker. ROLL ON TO VICTORY.
Blech. This “Hurt Locker” shit has got to stop.
Saw Bigelow’s post-Q&A – a very classy yet humble human being. What a great person to win.
Great show. Pretty happy with all the results, predictable as they were.
Fuck yeah, Tarantino, Waltz, and the cast of Basterds.
Major congrats to the very gracious Bigelow and Hurt Locker.
Yay for Sir Paul McCartney gracing the event with his Beatle-y presence.
Boo for helium-riddled, vapid, grating host Kristin Chanoweth and her every failed attempt at comedy. Someone put the bitch back in her cage and give her a salt lick or something.
Other than that, beautiful stuff. Bring on the Globes!
As Barbara Covett would say: “Bliss.”
“The Hurt Locker”
Kathryn Bigelow
Meryl Streep
Mo’Nique
Christoph Waltz
Quentin Tarantino
Jason Reitman
Preferred Renner, but Bridges A-OK.
