I’m out of here, down to the Palladium for tonight’s festivities. Maybe I’ll Tweet this or that, maybe not. Use this space to discuss the winners and losers as you see fit (unless Guy happens to wander in with a dedicated thread). The show starts at 9:00pm EST, 6:00pm EST on VH1.

Have fun at the big boy table with George and Jason, man. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy.
OK, maybe Gandhi, but something tells me he’d be more of an Avatar fan.

The show itself is awful, but the acceptances by the Avatar producer and Christoph Waltz were pretty solid.
Kristen Chenaworth or whoever this is needs to stfu.

So I have to sit through things like Best Song, but Best Foreign Film is passed by like stale confetti? The one award that has to cover the work of every other country in the world because people are too stupid to enjoy foreign films?

Oh my. And so it begins… A tie between Meryl and Bullock. They really are trying to predict the Oscars!!
“Wonder who will win? Well, let’s give ‘em both one!”
Now Bullock will take the GG and SAG too and then there’s no stopping it on March 7th. Just as I feared :(

I honestly never thought Sandra had a shot at a Critic’s award but I get why she won. She knows how to make a good speech like Meryl, this is something the younger actresses can’t compete with…star power. They were great up there.

Great show. Pretty happy with all the results, predictable as they were.
Fuck yeah, Tarantino, Waltz, and the cast of Basterds.
Major congrats to the very gracious Bigelow and Hurt Locker.
Yay for Sir Paul McCartney gracing the event with his Beatle-y presence.
Boo for helium-riddled, vapid, grating host Kristin Chanoweth and her every failed attempt at comedy. Someone put the bitch back in her cage and give her a salt lick or something.
Other than that, beautiful stuff. Bring on the Globes!

Sandra Bullock is not only going to rob other superior actresses and performances of an Oscar nomination, she is going to steal the award from Meryl!
Seriously, a tie? Good job, BFCA, you fucking clowns! But Sandra is soooo cute, though!

The Bullock win is a joke. There is no way around it. I remember when I saw the trailer for The Blind Side, and literally laughed at how cliched it looked. Then I actually saw the film, and guess what, it was what I expected it to be. This may have been Bullock’s most accomplished role, but the movie was a glorified Lifetime film-of-the-week. I going to predict right now that if Bullock wins the SAG and Globe, she will win the Oscar. Which is dumbfounding. If this comes true, it will just show us that star power and big box office trumps quality performances.
Other than the above travesty, I was satisfied with the other wins. But dear Lord, the production value of this show was horrendous. And somebody needs to clue me in, but Sarah Silverman is not funny at all. I don’t get her humor. Trying to say the most offensive thing possible does not a comic make. It’s just..well stupid. I’m surprised she’s still getting invited to present at these awards shows. Oh well, Go Bigelow and Tarantino!

I seriously think its not a big deal with the actresses winning a tie. I mean Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway tied last year and Meryl got the SAG, Anne Hathaway got nothing and Kate Winslet got the GG and Oscar. I dont think this year is going to be any different. I think Meryl will take home the Oscar if not anything else

Sensing that “Avatar” has peaked. This is it for them. Sad. I was hoping that they would eventually talk people into voting for best acting noms, screenplay too. I love the line “I’m not in Kansas anymore.” It’s so original. Same with the line “Come to Papa!” Plus I liked that the movie felt too long. I don’t have much to fill my time with these days anyway, since I’m 35 and still live at home with my mom. Anyway, that’s an extra 45 minutes of time I get to pretend I’m riding a flying dragon. Yipee! It’s like a video game come to life. Or a screen saver that I can feel is a part of me! Blue people rock! Long live the King of the World.

1. Yes Sandra Bullock won, but so did Meryl Streep. People are forgetting this already. Meryl did not lose. They TIED!
2. Both Streep & Bullock will win Globes on Sunday, those this means nothing in terms of whose best (Marion Cotillard & Reese Witherspoon recently took Comedy/Musical Globes and won Oscars, while the Drama winners lost)
3. Streep has taken a ton of critic awards this year, including top dog New York Film Critics. Bullock has won zilch.
4. If Bullock beats Streep at the SAGs, so what? Streep won last year for Best Actress, so the SAGs don’t necessarily owe the woman.
Best Actress Oscar: Meryl Streep
