Something for spring

Ever get taken completely unawares by a film’s existence?

It’s no doubt my own oversight, but before happening upon this trailer, I had never heard of “Duplicity.” (In my defence, who would remember that title?) Kind of surprising considering it reteams “Closer” co-stars Clive Owen and Julia Roberts, and comes from the hand of recent Oscar nominee Tony Gilroy.

It’s a pleasant surprise, though: from where I’m standing, it looks like a crisp, stylish divertissement in the “Charade” mold, which is good enough for me. (Owen’s presence is always a plus in my book. And bonus points for the Goldfrapp cue.)

Am I the only one thinking this looks a lot more fun than “Michael Clayton?” Here’s hoping. (Apple version here.)

Definitely something to look forward to the spring for! Got a release date? :o)

Sorry, should’ve mentioned that in the post — March 20.

I think it looks great. And IT COULD be more fun than Michael Clayton.

Speaking of Michael Clayton, nobody will ever make me believe that didn’t consider George Clooney first to be paired up with Julia (who looks incredibly beautiful on the trailer). Something must’ve gone wrong because this all seems like a perfect vehicle for both of them.

However their usual gimmicks (from past movies) would’ve been non-stop so thank God for Clive Owen. And this one looks like a fun thriller with comic touches, a Clooney/Roberts pairing would’ve been “a comedy” right away…

And yes, Duplicity is a horrible title…

looks great, love clive owen, just not anything he’s done since children of men, which he shoulda been nominated for best actor for
