Wow, I am SO not with Karger on that one — I didn’t get Fiennes’ performance in “The Duchess” at all. Now if only there was supporting buzz for his work in “In Bruges” instead, then I’d be on board.

I’m not a Ralph Fiennes fan, and haven’t seen The Duchess, but I have to admit that he was great in “In Bruges”. All three main actors in that were terrific (Farrell, Gleeson, Fiennes) and I wouldn’t begrudge any of them a spot in any awards lineup.

Hey Kris…I think my blog headline may have been a bit misleading. I wouldn’t say Ralph Fiennes is Heath Ledger’s main competition…he’s not even in my top 5 on MCN or The Envelope right now. I was just saying that the weak slate of supporting-actor contenders may benefit him and he may sneak in.
