Okay, by now, most Oscarwatchers and prognozticators are expecting the same five titles to pop up in the Best Picture category: “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “The Dark Knight,” “Frost/Nixon,” “Milk” and “Slumdog Millionaire.”
But not everyone.
My questiont o you is, if you are predicting a DIFFERENT lineup, what is it? I figure there are only so many combinations that can come out of the sane awards-watching universe, but I’m prepared to be surprised. Tell us your different angle on the season. I’m curious…

Sorry forgot to post my list is earlier:
Ben Button
Slumdog
Milk
TDK/Wrestler/Dobut (2 of these)
TCCOBB
Dark Knight
Slumdog Millionaire
Wall-e
The Wrestler
Call these lists different?
The Dark Knight
In Bruges
The Wrestler
Milk
W. ( Just kidding but you never know!)
The Watchmen will be the best film of 2009!
Yo! ain’t seen it but what about Che?
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Milk
Revolutionary Road
Slumdog Millionaire
I just don’t see the Academy nominating something as mainstream and action-oriented as The Dark Knight. We’ll see.

The academy will show some balls and nominate the greatest film of the year, “The Wrestler.”
The Dark Knight
Slumdog Millionaire
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Slumdog Millionaire
The Wrestler
…sorry, I meant to include Milk.
Might as well give Slumdog all the slots, as nothing else is gonna win. ;)
“Yo! ain’t seen it but what about Che?”
Braveheart, when you do see it, you’ll understand why I say: NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS.
Interesting film. Superb performance from Del Toro. But it’s so far outside the Academy’s comfort zone, it’s hard to express.
Milk
The Dark Knight**
Slumdog Millionaire*
Wall-E
Frost/Nixon
* only because of the silly hype
** I want TDK to win
I’m hoping that The Dark Knight is not included. Not a great film…sorry all you lovers…the ending stunk, and it was practically insufferable when Ledger was not on screen
I am hoping that TDK is out, and The Wrestler is in. If not The Wrestler, then The Reader.
You have every right to your wrong opinion. ;)
My opinion doesn’t matter so I may as well go a little crazy:
Slumdog Millionaire
The Dark Knight
Frost/Nixon
Australia
The Wrestler
“Gran Torino” instead of “Frost/Nixon”, as the film that gets more passionate following, while “Frost” has more appreciation for the acting ensemble.
The other four seem pretty solid.
Possibly, “Happy Go Lucky” instead of “Slumdog” if “Slumdog”is seen as too violent.
And if “Dark Knight” doesn’t get in, it’s substitute could be anything: “In Bruges”, “The Changeling”, “Iron Man”etc.
My Best Picture five are:
Doubt
Milk
Slumdog Millionaire
Revolutionary Road
The Dark Knight
Just thought I should throw this in..my professor is also a member of the Academy Awards (as a producer)
His five in order:
1. Slumdog Millionaire (beautiful film)
2. Milk (a nice little movie)
3. The Wrestler (art)
4. Frost/Nixon (exceeded very little expectation going in)
5. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (“reluctantly”)
Why would your professor even have Button on his list if he’s “reluctant” about it? Surely he can come up with five films he’s genuinely enthusiastic about. Is he afraid that would be throwing a vote away?
that’s what I think…but i didn’t have time to ask him.
a. Gran Torino
b. In Bruges
c. Wall-E
d. Doubt
e. Milk
