First off, apologies for the misinformation regarding “The Rum Diary” potentially being at Telluride. (Scott Burns was right!) It really did look that way for a minute, but anyway, a poster for the film has been released, and it’s delicious. *hiccup* I’m very much looking forward to this one. I like it.
Back when I first heard of this project I thought this one could win Depp the Oscar. DiCaprio will be a strong candidadte if nominated for “J. Edgar” but he is still younger than the typical best actor. Depp on his fourth nomination, in his late 40’s, would be right in the Academy’s wheelhouse…

This looks like a lot of fun, Edwin Drood, but I highly doubt Depp will be nominated for it, much less have a chance at winning (cool as that would be). I just don’t see “Oscar” written on this film at all.
A fun book that is hopefully adapted into an equally fun movie. The trailer certainly looks promising.
The Rum Diary isn’t comedy. It’s drama with comical elements.
