Alright, I’m ducking out of here for the night. Feel free to use this space to discuss the show, the winners, whatever strikes you. The red carpet starts up in about two hours. I don’t think there will be too much strain on the server, but if things get sluggish, have patience with us.
If you’re looking for a live stream of the Oscarcast, I’m told you can watch here and, of course, Oscar.com (if you don’t mind paying five bucks). I imagine Justin.tv will have a page, too. You can check the rundown of awards presentations here.
Once again, if you haven’t joined our pool at Picktainment, do so here. Meanwhile, my final predictions are here, Guy’s are here and Gerard’s are here. The aggregated picks of others can be found at Awards Daily, Gold Derby and Movie City News.
And…that should about cover it. Enjoy the show, be safe, have fun, all of that good stuff. The checkered flag is in sight. Check back tomorrow for the season’s final Oscar Talk as Anne and I pick up the pieces and try to figure out what happened.

I only just realized I haven’t been counting Christian Bale’s win as a correct prediction for me (which it obviously was).
And then I had two more of my predictions be right. I’m up to 7. Which is still pretty bad for me.
I’m thinking I’m going to be wrong on my best song prediction now as well. If I Rise, not gonna win.
OmarA,
I think you’re a little premature, but funny nonetheless.
Randy Newman gets his second Oscar. OK.
Jennifer Hudson is too skinny now. Not cool with that.
It’s official. James Franco is high!
People thinking TSN will win pic need to consider the preferential ballot.
Can’t wait to see Sasha Stone’s vindication post tomorrow morning.
SJG… How?
How does it slip?
So I got 12 right so far. I did not predict the Shorts because I have not seen any of them (unfortunately).
The Social Network is looking good, but you never know. True Grit is going home empty handed.
The industry lost too many good people last year…
I’m loving this ceremony because it’s a wonderful spread of the wealth.
Although I’m kind of upset that Deakins lost, especially since he was to be True Grit’s most likely (if only) win.
Holy shit, an In Memoriam without the disrespectful applause!!! My prayers have been answered.
I guess that if TKS wins now it’ll break Gladiator’s record of being the winner with more than 10 nominations with the least amount of awards.
As I said before some hysterical bloggers first created and then believed the TKS sweep theory! And they kept whining about it! I am curious what they will say now!
I am sure they will attempt to use “creeping determinism”….
OHHHH YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Hooper. No!!!1!
Well, it’s over.
Bigelow’s still smoking!
It’s Over. King’s Speech wins! Good night.
Daaaaaaamn. So The King’s Speech wins top prize after all, with four in total.
Oh, shit..If the Oscars were held in the old Extreme Championship Wrestling arena, the crowd would’ve chanted “YOU FUCKED UP!”
Eli Wallach FTW!
If TKS wins the best Picture, I am sure there will be some bloggers/people saying “but it won only 4 Oscars”…
Stutter Island for the win (*grumble grumble grumble*)
Whoever wins Best Picture it’ll tie with Inception! Kickass ☺
So did Tom Hooper’s speech about his mom seeing TKS as a play tip off that it wasn’t an original script? Or is there some kind of oversight? I think he said “unproduced play” which means the material wasn’t published, which still qualifies it as an original screenplay. But Moulin Rouge lost a Best Song nomination because Come What May was written for Romeo + Juliet, even though it was never recorded or release for that film. Seems weirdly double-standardy.
And just when you think The Social Network has it in the bag; just when you think the Academy’s gonna shock us all…..Tom Hooper wins Directing. FUCK THE ACADEMY what a brutal cocktease of a show.
Even that short clip shows that half of Annette Benning’s performance belongs to Julianne Moore!
I don’t get what the hell the producers were talking about when they said the presentation of the actors was going to be something different.
Jennifer Lawrence… DAAAAAAMN!
I think Jennifer Lawrence realized how absurd her clip was. Worst clip selection ever.
Again with the freaking cell phone in the bathroom scene.
Yessss Natalie! No surprise there!
Portman wins. Laugh coming in 5, 4, 3….
Poor Annette. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride!!!
Jean Luc-Godard isn’t sorry, I suspect, that he missed this abortion of a show…
Jennifer Lawrence. OH MY…
I just want to bring back the idea of Meryl Streep- Sandra Bullock hosting the Oscars!!!
I’m with Sertan.
Sandra’s short introduction was funnier than most of the show so far! She just called Jeff Bridgess “dude”:))
Please let Jesse Eisenberg win so there’s hope still for TSN to win. :-(
Colin Firth is the reason for The King’s Speech. He OWNED the whole film.
And of course Colin Firth!
I support Sertan’s proposal.
“I have a feeling my career’s just peaked.” Heh.
He won this year for two great back-to-back performances! He was the best this year, and in my opinion he was the best last year too!
So…
what if Inception…
nah. Too awesome.
Cant Steven Spielberg present an award for short documenraty or art design? Does it have to be either best director or best picture???
It would be funny if the split happens in reverse:) TKS wins BD, TSN wins BP:)
Spielberg said it well. It doesn’t matter who or what wins the Oscar. It’s the test of time that matters.
Does this clip already mean TKS wins???? This is weird! Every movie should get its own introduction!
Really? They’re using one of the King’s speeches as the audio behind the best picture montage? No bias there.
The King’s Speech!!!! Yesssssssssssssssss….
