I don’t know how to read those wins. Avatar and Nine both won based on clips. Great clips mind you but clips nonetheless.

Love the recognition for Aghdashloo and Schneider.

Have enough people seen Nine to give Atwood an award for Nine or was that on name recognition and expectations alone?

Georgie: No. These “awards” are generally the result of diligent publicists getting in fest brass’s ears and getting their clients mentioned. Simple as that.

So this officially means de niro is a contender and moore is a threat to m’onique who is no lock yet.

This “officially” means nothing, just that, again, publicists are doing their jobs.

They are meant to give Oscar campaigns more weight for the studios but they don’t affect the actual nominees AT ALL.

Yeah. Because, in all honesty, as good as he was in the film, Zachary Quinto won’t get an Oscar nomination… Golden Globe nomination MAYBE…

These means next to nothing. But hey, they are fun :D And I’m sure the people getting the awards are delighted to be in the spotlight for an evening.

But what about Actress of the Year and Supporting Actor of the Year? There’s only two weeks until the show. They also usually have a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hopefully it won’t be like last year when there was no supporting actor award.
