Better late than never. What do you want, I’ve been hangin’ with the OTHER Searchlight crew all night. Exclaim or complain in the comments below if you like.

Congrats to Boyle and to Slumdog Millionaire!

Again if it does end up losing at the Oscars, it will be such a huge upset. But with this film it has done so much already that really everything it has been getting since the Globes has been like icing to the already delicious cake.

    Congratulations to Danny and Team.

A film like nothing before, and probably nothing after, one of the greatest film watching experiences of my life.

    Hearty congratulations to Dan Attias.

At least I can understand this one, unlike the SAG ensemble or the WGA. I just hope Danny Boyle decides to royally fuck around with all these new converts and release another “Trainspotting” or “Shallow Grave”.

Eh, not quite as enthusiastic about this as Mercury, but hey, at least it’s not The Curious Case of Forrest Gump. That’s the only remaining thing that I have a vested interest in this Oscar season.

Well, that and Mickey Rourke winning Best Actor (sorry, Sean). But no matter what, David Fincher’s vapid Oscar-bait CANNOT win.

Good for him — he should have won in 96 for “Trainspotting” which was the best film of that year — happy for him, ‘Slumdog Millionaire” seems a cinch for the Oscar.

Still don’t get all the hullaballoo for “Slumdog Millionaire.” It just didn’t do anything for me.

I’m thinking it was the big dance number at the end – that really detracted me from the rest of the film. It was like the little gag reel at the end of “Being There” – suddenly the magic is taken away and you can’t go back.

Congrats, though, to Mr. Boyle; however, I still wouldn’t be surprised if there is a split between Best Picture and Best Director – for some reason, this year reminds me so much of 2002 and 2005, with a bit of 2000 thrown in.

I’d be pretty surprised. Make that VERY surprised.

“Slumdog” is so winning Picture and Director. I just don’t see what can catch up at this point. Yeah, there are whispers about “Milk,” but I think that’s just people trying to drum up suspense for the sake of it. This race is over.

There is absolutely gonna be no surprise at the Oscars. The love affair for Slumdog is complete, not a branch of the Academy dislikes it, infact everyone, the entire Hollywood industry loves it. They are gonna end up naming their children Jamal & Latika.

And needless to say, all of us are still scratching our heads wondering how it came to be so.

I’m wondering how did it all start? Can we really blame the NBR? I’m not sure it has such a huge influence. How did an entire industry become so thoroughly convinced that Slumdog is the absolutely best film they have seen all year?

Uh, because a lot of people sincerely love the film?

    I’m bored.

Red Wine: I can’t speak to how, but I can certainly point you to where:

“I can’t help but wonder if I’m the only person having this reaction, which is why I can’t shake the feeling that “Slumdog Millionaire” will be this year’s Oscar victor.”

Wow. So you guessed the winner correctly 2 months before the nomination. But still it drives me crazy that the entire industry thinks it is the best film of the year. I honestly believe it will fade away pretty quickly, TDK is a better film.

I had Curious Case, Dark Knight, and WALL-E above this on my top ten of the year, but I’m really happy for Boyle. It’s a masterful film and very deserving. Congrats to them.

I wouldn’t say there will be no surprises at the Oscars. Supporting Actress is wide open, what with Winslet’s promotion. And neither Penn nor Rourke is a clear frontrunner for Best Actor.
