Did you read Jeff Well’s short review? It was brilliant. He calls it a Taliban recruitment film amongst others :D

Seriously. I couldn’t wait for this movie for the longest time… BECAUSE ONCE IT CAME OUT THE NIGHTMARE WOULD BE OVER.

Now they are talking about a sequel. It makes me want to kill myself.

There’s nothing more pathetic than a bunch of guys pretending to be threatened by a chick flick based on an (way) above average TV show.

Especially one written and directed by a guy.

    Give me a break.

Well the fact that it’s written and directed by a guy makes it even more worrying. I’ll probably see it. My girlfriend wanted to go to a SATC Ladies Night where they give free dildo’s. It was sold out. Thus not relieving me of any duties ;)

Proman: Sex and the City is vacuous garbage as far as I’m concerned. Sorry. I’m just not interested, and sick of the hype. Can’t be pegged as an anti-chick flick guy either, no matter how bad you want to put everything into a box.

But I long for the day you’ll disagree without being offensive.

Kris, I’m getting tired of all this whinning. Every site I visit seems to be full of people who continuously whine about this movie for no apparent reason. This antagonism is not suprising but I’m convinced that most of it is put-on (well, maybe not in your case).

Pathetic is the only suitable word I could come up with.

I can understand why this may not be your cup of tea (it’s not mine either) but to be honest I’m somewhat suprised by you reaction to the TV show. If you can’t respect it what what it is at least you gotta give it props for being a very well written and incredibly well produced show.
I’ve seen enough of it (don’t ask me why) to firmly stand by my words.

Almost every week there’s a movie that’s primarily designed for opening in our multiplexes. This one’s for women and it’s getting better reviews than Rambo.

I meant to say “primarily madefor women”* in that sentence above.

Heh, SATC is the female equivalent of Rambo. Instead of drawing first blood they deal the first pinch.

I don’t think I really have to give it props for anything, Proman. You call them as you see them, I do the same. My girlfriend’s a fan. I’ve suffered through plenty of episodes.

And Rambo sucked, too. But this one has enjoyed the hype that puts in on my “shut the fuck up” radar, so it gets the post.

I’ll tell you what I’m sick of– no name posters bitching and “whinning” about the blogger’s OPINION. Let’s face it, this show/movie glorifies materialism and talks excessively about mundane sexual encounters. I like the description of “vacuous garbage.” Fairly accurate…

Devin, I don’t feel like I need my full name and complete credit card information to legitimize my opinion. Besides, I’d much rather be no name than no brain…

The fact that you capitalized OPINION shows that you’ve missed the point anyway. In any case, I was clearly talking about the general attitude towards this film not some name guy’s blog entry.

    And yes, Rambo was shit.

I wasn’t looking for your SSN– you’re the one completely missing the point. But good crack about me having no brain… your maturity is overwhelming. My emphasis on that word was only making the point that you are getting all hot and bothered (like the SATC girls) over someone else’s opinion– something subjective. Then, you toss your own out on the table as if it’s dogma. It’s one thing to disagree but it’s another to dismiss the original point as “no-brained.” Also, to be disgruntled about every post is quite irritating. Grow up.

    And yes, Rambo was miserable.

Devin, I am really not interested in continuing this because you obviously don’t understand what I’m trying to say and I don’t even care for this movie that much in the first place but:

(for the nth time) I wasn’t attacking anyone’s opinion. As I’ve clearly stated it’s the general (and pre-emptive) attitude towards this flick that I found annoying. I am not getting “all hot and bothered” (uggh!) about anything. At least not more so than other male posters who keep bringing this flick waves of publicity. Case closed.

Proman, I’m not at all threatened by it… I’m just sick of it. Don’t you even try to pretend that you haven’t ever gotten sick of something so overexposed and overmarketed such as I find this movie to be.

Chick Flicks are great (if done right)… I count You’ve Got Mail, 13 Going on 30, Hitch, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days among my favorite comedies of recent years. For goodness sake, I saw Catch & Release on opening day.

Yes, Rambo is shit, but I wasn’t nearly knocked unconscious by the advertising for it.

Wow, out tastes really are different. I really hated most of these movies.

    Here’s my list:

“Before Sunset, Love Actually, Kate & Leopold, Valet”

Though I think in both cases one can argue that that some of them are more of Romantic comedies or Romances than strict “chick flicks”.

What a load of Crap (How iconic that was the best punchline of the movie.) I got dragged too. I did not mine the show but my god.
