I know you don’t normally do box office stuff outside of Sunday’s recap but Black Swan crossed 100m on Wednesday, The King’s Speech passed The Social Network yesterday and will cross 100m sometime on Saturday or Sunday. True Grit should get within spitting distance of Dances With Wolves and the unadjusted western box office crown.
It’s fantastic to see these films doing so well.
I noted in the last Sunday column that two of those things would happen this week, but indeed, big stories.
Just came across this new interview with Douglas Trumbull you guys might be interested in reading:

Wow, had no idea about the Natalie Portman rumor, that’s pretty ridiculous
Which Natalie Portman rumor?
There’s a rumor on the link with the “Biggest lies of this year’s contenders” entry that says Natalie Portman’s face was digitally put in another dancer’s body for Black Swan, ugh.
With all due respect to Natalie who did great in the movie, don’t you think that if they opted to go that route they would have planted her face on a better dancer’s body?
It’s completely obvious that it’s her in those shots and so much so, that I’m kind of wondering if that rumor actually started in that very article.
Lol, Maxim, I think it’s quite possible the rumor started in that same article.
And yes, Portman is clearly dancing in those scenes, she’s clearly not a trained dancer, but she (with Aronofsky) still makes that opening sequence one of my favorite moments in a film I’ve seen, such a beautiful, haunting turn, hope she wins.
