Hooray! Now keep up the goofiness – it’s going to be a boring, predictable year no doubt. We need the hosts to make it a little more interesting.

They’re adorable. Looking forward to seeing how they do as hosts!

I think their cute. I was a little worried at first when they asked James and Anne to host, but after seeing this spot, I kind of understood what the producers are aiming for.

WARDROBE MALFUNCTION! That was great. Hope they keep it light and sing some damn songs. (Like oh… “I See The Light” duet perhaps)

Please no song and dance numbers. Please.

Still find this choice bewildering. Joan Rivers said it best when she said, “when was the last time you heard anyone say, “Anne stop it, you’re killing me…””

Cute promo. I’m kinda adoring them.

I thought that was lame and hopefully not an indication of what is to come.

I agree with Paul. That spot completely changed my opinion of them as hosts. I love the level of goofiness on display. I hope that joy is evident throughout the evening.

If anything, they’ll be pretty to look at.

Cute promo indeed. Love them as a duo but I don’t think they can cary the show.

    “They will bomb.”

Translation: “My name is Rashad and I have to limply express the marginal opinion on everything.”

There will be singing, Franco said so himself… And I actually think it could be great or, at least, better then last year without a doubt….

I’m sorry, I didn’t know I had to be enthusiastic about two unfunny people singing and dancing.

I know she is a nominee this year but I want to return to my idea about how the Oscars should be hosted with Kidman as a co-host. In fact, if they let Franco do it, why not her?

Two hosts: Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts. It’s they shared history that gives it validity, plus the fact that despite that history they’ve never shared a movie togther. So there’s all that sexual tension
Playing on the themes of seduction in “Black Swan” and “The Kids are Alright”, after each category is presented, each would take off a piece of clothing. Solitarily, or even better, from each other.By the end just as Best Picture is revealed, say Kidman ends up bottomless and Watts topless.

That should definitely maintain viewership throughout and contribute to the climactic and suprising reveal that a Best Picture win should be. By the end, and this maybe too much, Kidman could gently pee a little on the spot.

Urgh, no song and dance numbers. This is not the Tony’s! Nothing was worse than Hugh Jackman’s overtly self-aware “oh shucks look how goofy I am” number.

Get a straight below the belt Gervais, Jon Stewart, Louis CK or Chris Rock to make the night interesting for those in the audience not gay or female.

Let’s leave the Tonys out of this. Song and dance numbers have been a part of the Oscar hosts’ shtik since the days of Bob Hope.

Not bad, through the Morden Family commerical is classic.

They seem like SNL hosts in training.

Both of them are likable enough. They will certainly attract a younger audience. They will be mildly funny and mostly inoffensive. James will say one or two slightly inappropriate things, followed by a goofy, self-satisfied grin. Anne will play along and sing once or twice because she’s multi-talented like that.

However, I doubt the two will bring anything subversive, perceptive or interesting to the table. I’m not asking for a host to adopt the Ricky Gervais mean-spirited, truth-telling, ’emperor has no clothes’ approach, but maybe a Jon Stewart type could bring a deft, clever, humorous and honest tone to what is a ceremony that is only slightly less masturbatory than the Golden Globes.

Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were extremely average last year but I blame that on the writing.

Ideally the show producers should hire the 30 Rock writers to prepare material for the hosts. 30 Rock is piercing in its satire of the entertainment industry and celebrities. Yet it features an Oscar-nominee (not including Tina Fey, Alec Baldwin) practically every episode.

What’s done is done and I pray for an interesting show.
