Oscar night open thread

Oscars

I want to say it’s been a truly wonderful season because of this community.  No matter how much I’ve moaned about the length of the circuit or my eventual crash in endurance, I never tire of getting up every day and delighting in the particulars of the season with like-minded friends, so thank you.

For now, the floor is yours.  I’m hosting the annual Casa de Tapley Oscar fiesta, so I won’t be around these parts.  Use this space to dish the red carpet, talk about the show, cheer/bitch about the winners, etc.  I’ll likely have some comments throughout the night on Twitter if you’d like to follow me there.  And be sure you lock in your pool predictions at Awards Picks by 7:59pm EST.  Happy Oscars!

Is it just me or did Shankman and Mechanic take everything that was classy and worked in last years Oscars and throw it out the door?? Dumb move. The show felt extremely rushed and still landed 30+ minutes over.

@ 149 “Not that the hundreds of critics who place it on their year-best or even decade-best don’t accomplish that with ease regardless =).”

That`s critics. They are minority and they certainly aren`t role models. There are more people in the real world who don`t get HL hype than those who do.

AMPAS will rather award a bomb than a sci fi (not talking just about Avatar here) or Tarantino. Shame on them.

The best part of the show – best actor and actress presented by people who knew the nominees – was taken from last year.

Really thought it was meh, especially the Martin/Baldwin duo. Weird energy. And poor Neil Patrick Harris – great performer, terrible opening song.

And what was up with Mr. Clooney – was there some bad blood between he and the hosts or was he just not amused? I know he seemed sick of the camera taking shots of him…
