Giacchino dominates IFMCA Awards

Kris was wondering what became of the last precursor of the season, the International Film Music Critics Association Awards. Right on cue, you can check out their choices at The Circuit. No surprise that they’re all about Michael Giacchino this year, but nice to see some love for “A Single Man” too.

Giacchino won all those awards, yet he didn’t win for composing what could be the most acclaimed musical composition of the year (not that Drag Me to Hell didn’t deserve it, in fact, I’m happy it won)

Yay, The Informant! And A Single Man! And Drag Me To Hell!

I’m really pleased about these awards. This and the International Cinephile Society are my favourite precursors (even though the ICS isn’t really a precursor).

Would have been nice to split the awards up slightly more so that Giacchino didn’t win everything, but you can’t win ’em all.

Giacchino didn’t win for the best written composition of this or any recent year? Blasphemy. Well, I’m glad he lost to Drag Me to Hell if he had to lose. That movie was all things awesome.

I loved the score for “A Single Man.” Thrilled to see it get such richly deserved recognition!
