‘Nowhere Boy’ trailer

Sam Taylor-Wood’s debut feature has its world premiere tonight as it closes out the London Film Festival. I’ll have a short take up for you later today, but for now, here’s the trailer. (I’ll say this much: Kristin Scott Thomas’s recent run of form remains unbroken.)

Were those REALLY the best actors they could find to play The Beatles?

Sorry, I love Kristin Scott Thomas, but near-unanimous praise is the only way I can imagine seeing this seemingly boring, washed out-looking film.

It seems to me like a movie that will interest people who are not big Beatles fans. A boy wants to be in a band. The mother disagrees. We see the process of him getting into a new world. Well, it’s just a trailer, I dunno.|I wonder if KST’s part is written as something more than a cliche. Hope so.

Well @Robert Hamer you gotta go with unknown’s with iconic people.

I think it looks good, maybe not great but for what the trailer gives you it would get me in the theaters.

I like the idea of casting the kid from Love Actually as Paul.

Whoever they cast as John doesn’t look like John. Google tells me his name is Aaron Johnston. The Daily Mail tells me he’s f**king the film’s director Sam Taylor-Wood. Impressive.

Maybe my cinematic acumen is very limited but at the start of the trailer doesn’t he sound just like Alex DeLarge? (Beyond the fact that they are/were both English)

Bloody hell, all the lines I quoted in my review feature in the trailer too. I assure you I saw the whole movie!

Robert, the film isn’t as washed-out as the trailer. Not sure what happened there.
