Michael Jackson's This Is It

I’ve committed some thoughts on “Michael Jackson’s This Is It” to print already, but since this thing is going to be a blockbuster, I figured it would be great to get some reader reaction.  Let us know what you think after you give it a look either this week or over the weekend.

I was being totally blown away for the first forty minutes or so, then settled into it as it got a bit repetitive (though not exactly boring). I felt there was something missing when it ended, but perhaps that’s because the trailer led me to believe it was going to be a commentary-on-the-man dealio, and I sort of expected there to be post-death to-the-camera eulogies, sort of like there was at the beginning.

I know there were drugs involved, but I was still amazed that a super-skinny, fifty-year-old guy clad in his usual flashy “star” outfits could easily hold his own against his backing dancers – who were probably half his age, ten times buffer, and wearing sweats.

He’s also the sweetest, gentlest “bossy perfectionist” I’ve ever seen. True genius! There will never be another as good.

(I want all of his jackets.)

Yeah, just got back from seeing it with a few friends. We all were blown away; perhaps, because I’d always “considered” Michale Jackson from arm’s length (radio, music vidoes, sound bytes, Access Hollywood bull sh*t).

So, seeing him in all his glory, right before his death, right before the tour, sweating, dancing, singing … I was stunned. I also didn’t realize jus how quiet, humble, passionate, compassionate, & how much of a perfectionist he was.

Again, I sit here just blown away by the tidbits I watched over the course of a 2 hour documentary.

Very good film, rare that we get to see a master’s process. I’m glad the film proves that MJ could still sing and dance better than anyone around (alot of people were doubting he could still do either). This 50 year old man looked like he was light years ahead of his backup dancers, who were half his age.

Just got back from seeing it, really enjoyed it. I’d give it 3.5/4 stars.

It was also a good way of showing how much of a kiss-ass Kenny Ortega is. Jesus.
