Thank you guy, this could easily be the movie of the year(decade?DONT KILL ME) its just pulling on heart strings and nostalgia like nothing Ive ever seen
Aoife
Have never read the book but I am looking forward to this. Its a great trailer. The Arcade Fire song is wildly appropriate.
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but I’m starting to get the sinking feeling they’re making this look a lot better than it is with these trailers.

wow, I love everything about this movie. I don’t even want it to be nominated for best Picture because it is too cool and amazing on its own that it doesn’t need to be. nothing else I have seen this year (or in a really long time) has given me this feeling that I am about to see something truly classic. October 16 cannot come fast enough!
everything about this film just turns me off. It looks like it is overly sentimental. The cinematography seems more suited for a drama; it looks very opressive; makes me depressed quite frankly. and the music exacerbates that feeling; very depressing. Just looks sad and boring.

I’m wearing my Max shirt today-no question about it. Damn, I’m excited

I don’t know why Kris would say that… in fact , the trailers make it seem to me like this is nothing if not the best film of the year (naturally, we’ll only know after watching it – and all the other films – but that’s what I’m getting right now).

Algoresneuts: Have you not read the book? I think this trailer does a great job conveying the mood of the book. It’s about a lonely, upset boy taht ends up finding this happiness in the world he created. It’s a very sentimental book to begin with. This movie will be “sad” at points. You’re just gonna have to deal with that. lol
And why do you not think that this films a drama? Yeah its fantasy, but it’s very much a drama. It’s about this little boys emotions. And the journey he takes (cliche line here, but the journey he takes inside himself more so than his actual, physical journey).
Anyway, maybe you have no connections with the book, maybe you didn’t really appreciate it when you were a child, but it’s still my favorite book of all time, and I think this looks amazing. I can’t wait. And the nostalgia factor here is gonna be through the roof. Already, I just love seeing those characters as “real” beings.
Algoresnuts
Yeah, but even when he finds happiness, it looks down right sad. And even scary in some parts. I go to the movies to get away from the real world, and this movie just reminds me how cold the world is. The music is depressing. The images are depressing. Just awful. They should have at least had the scenes with the creatures a little brighter and more fun. The whole movie looks like a homeless man who’s been pissed on. And beaten with a wrench. Why would I wanna sit through that??
Algoresnuts
This is like saying, “Shoving a spiked baseball bat up your butt will be great! I can’t wait!” And i’m saying, “No. That doesn’t sound like fun at all. In fact, that sounds painful!”
“No, but have you read the book? It is supposed to be painful.”
I’ll be skipping this bore fest of a movie. Thank you!
Hey Mike and Guy I took your advice and read the book! Actually found the youtube video of Barack Obama reading it to a bunch of kids. Am even more looking forward to the film now.

Algoresnuts: I think you’re about the most negative, pescimistic person I’ve ever “met”. lol I can’t believe anyone could have feelings that negative towards any movie. Movies are supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Just sit back and see what happens, man. I get wanting to be unique and feel like you know more about movies than anyone because you hate everything, but come on. I get that it looks a little drab, but I think when you see it you’re going to be plesantly surprised (not that I have any inside info on this film or anything, but I think its not gonna be as terrible as you seem to think). And if this gets you this worked up I can’t even imagine what your reaction to some war movies or tragedy movies would be.
You say that this won’t help you escape from the real world…it’s about giant, talking monsters that live in a land of a child king! How much further from reality do you need to get? lol You’re standard drama/comedy is much closer to reality than anything in this. I do get what you meant by that, but come on. If you automatically hate everything just because it doesn’t look cheery enough, then how the heck is anyone supposed to take you seriously as a critic? I’m not saying you’re an “official” movie critic or anything, but you at least know what you’re looking for. Not that I, or probably anyone else, have any idea what that is lol, but you still seem to have some guidelines for your views. The overly negative film critic is dead, man. Get over it and enjoy a movie for once.

on a side note, what was the song from the first trailer?
MJ
Wake Up, by the glorious Arcade Fire.
André
anyone know the song that plays at the end of the featurette, too?
This continues to look phenomenal… although I think the first trailer was better cut to the music. I did like the introduction to all the wild things though.

WOW this keeps going better and better!! I can’t wait more for this movie!!
Let the wild rumpus start!! =)

By the way, it’s real that this trailers are the best of the year (and for me, best ever if I remember well) and that’s a little risky, but I don’t care.
16 October Wait for me, because here I come!!
PD: Amazing song!!! It’s unbelievable the passion put it on that song by Arcade Fire

Aw, Aoife, that breaks my heart. Buy it. Borrow it. I’ll send you a copy if need be. Just read it. (It’ll only take a few minutes of your time.)
Please? For me?
Oh my gosh! Movie of the YEAR!
By the way how ADORABLE is Max?

kriss, no DEBBIE pleasee
I think it’ll be a masterpiece. Looks absolutely amazing.
This is gonna do some serious box office. And probably well-deserved.
The two trailers are already the best film of 2009. I can’t see any serious challenge.
Great trailer… so excited for this film.
Aoife: you can even search YouTube and find the book being read with the drawing from book being displayed, video is like 4 minutes long…
Another cool video at WTWTA on YouTube, is an early animation test when Disney owned the rights to the film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvIDRoO8KnM
