I ducked out to Vegas for the weekend, so no box office or “Cars 2” reaction threads. Sorry. But yesterday I caught “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” with most of the press corps and I had a blast. The action begins to melt your face in the final hour to a numbing degree. The screenplay is naturally all over the place. But it’s a full-on ride with beautifully realized 3D and, as always, impeccable sound design. I’d say it’s my favorite of the series, but I’d love to hear your thoughts. The film opens tonight at 9pm screenings in order to get a massive jump on the weekend (expect a trillion dollars in the bank by the time the fireworks hit Monday). So head on back here with your take when you get around to it this week.

I actually laughed at the scene when they first play that Linkin Park song (which was terrible) and Shia Labeouf’s character is riding through town looking mopey. I also thought that quick speech at the end by Optimus Prime was beyond corny.
I could list many things that I couldn’t stand about this film, but I won’t waste the space or time. If you haven’t gotten what I think of the film yet, I couldn’t stand it. On the bright side, however, I thought the visual and sound effects were top notch.
Definitely the best of the series and that Battle of Chicago is fantastic entertainment. The humor was still cheesy and Shia’s incessant whining and temper tantrums need to go. God forbid he brings any of that to Wettest County.
I also kind of liked the jabs at Megan Fox that were put into the script.
I felt like the “jabs” at Megan Fox were unprofessional, and probably the only thing I didn’t like about the movie. If she chose better projects, I think that she might have more of a fan base. She’s villified for being beautiful and not having the subservient personality that a lot of the young ingenues’ seem to have. Check out Diablo Cody’s “Red Band Trailer” show on youtube and watch her intervew with Fox. It’s wonderful.
I thought the little bot saying she was mean was pretty funny
Unprofessional? I think it’s a lot more professional to call her mean or take a jab at her within the script, essentially dissing the character on the surface instead of the actress.
A lot better than comparing someone to Hitler outside the confines of the script and film.
I totally felt that TF3 was better than Super 8. (Did S8 have character development? Yes, but it was lazy at best. At least TF3 didn’t even attempt it. Know your goal.)
I finally got to the theater and scribbled down my review. The topline: Mindless, entertaining, and, at least, more coherent than the last film. Great sound and 3D define it as the epitome of a “noisy, fun popcorn movie”. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley could have been a sexbot for all I cared. Ugh.
