Greatest. Marriage. Proposal. Ever.

This bit of hopeless romanticism ought to be enough to douse the controversial flames today, if just for a moment:

That was great. A very curious and funny way of showing his love.

Of course, if a few years from now, they end in a bitter divorce, it would suck even more than the usual.

Very cute and charming :) Wish them the best.

Plainview, you must live in California ( I do) where it’s said that half of all marriages end in divorce.

I thought it was very inventive – wonder if it was storyboarded & scripted; great action sequences, loved the concession stand bit, and the slo-mo Carmina Burana (sp?).

    (Hope the Inseminator didn’t have a pre-nup.)

I feel bad for the people held captive in that theater during the proposal. How did he even convince the theater to allow this?

Did she say OH MY GAGA?

Any way, it would be so awesome if the other people sued the theater. :p

    Only you, English.

Man, I wish she’d said no after all that build-up.

I’m with Speaking English; I’d be pissed if it was a movie I really wanted to see.

Plus she talks before she know the trailer is about her; rule #1 – never marry anyone who talks during the movies.

Haha, imagine if she went to the bathroom or had to leave during the trailer. That would be hilarious.

Or if people started shouting things like “what the hell is this?” and “where’s the damn movie” in the background while throwing popcorn over the lady. Hahaha.

Also, the dude clearly needs to study trailers more carefully. The ENTIRE Universal animation at the opening of a trailer? Doesn’t happen.

There were so few people in the auditorium that I think her family and friends rented it specifically for the proposal (without her knowing it). Or made arrangements with the theater to give them time to do their thing beofre allowing the crowd in for the next screening. They must have been sure about her answer. I think I heard them talk about going to lunch, no doubt for an informal celebration.

This is so much better! And who cares what would have hapenned instead? Stop trying to find all the ways this could have failed. The whole point is that everything went right and that is exactly what is so inspiring.

And as far as feeling bad is concerned, I really pity people like Speaking English who put completely momentary and entirely self-centered and sick “delight” of seeing a good thing ruined over shring in someone else’s happiness. We don’t have to look to Von Trier, the problem starts with people like you.

Yeah, I know you just made a comment on a message board but “just” making a comment is exactly what Von Trier did too.

    Have a nice day.

I was going to say the same thing about everyone else in the theatre but by the end it was obvious everyone else knew them and they was in on it. You must have stopped watching.

Maybe it’s just me, but if I were in the theater and didn’t know these guys, I don’t think I’d have a difficult time waiting five minutes to see my movie in order to experience two people begin their lives together. If someone would have a problem with it, I feel really sorry for that person.

If it were a Saw or Pirates movie about to start I wouldn’t mind but if it were say Tree of Life or Super 8 I would probably get a little restless.

Christ! I had an idea just like that maybe 6 months ago but it would play out as a short film and my character would break the fourth wall and propose. Of course I never saw it happening in a movie theater, rather a birthday party. Congrats to them though! Very inspiring stuff!
