Wrapped now. Repeat in the embed below. Best quote, from James Franco:
It was funny to me when the Academy made the announcement, because there was a lot of, ‘Oh, an obvious ploy by the Academy to bring in younger viewers.’ Yeah, duh. Is that a bad thing?
Jesse Eisenberg had some zingers, too.

Yeah, Nicholson was very adamant that he didn’t need a 4th Oscar, and wanted the Academy to go for someone who had yet to be rewarded. Very cool of him indeed, especially since About Schmidt, for my money, was his best performance since his early work in the 70s.
man, gotta love Jack. Compare that to Meryl Streep and her fans, constantly begging, lusting, after more oscars to break records . Very unseemly. fact is, 1 oscar is enough for anyone.
Is the Nicholson thing news? I feel like I bring it up every time someone wants to point to Brody as precedent for something. He was actually campaigning for Polanski (his buddy) in general, and that included a big push of support for Brody.
It’s there now, Afrika. And I guess I just don’t care about a benign still of next year’s likely Oscar bait, so your link will suffice for its news purposes here, I should think.

I actually had Eisenberg down for my personal choice for Best Actor this year; I was merely saying he is doing exceptional at all these events, and I think proving that he isn’t much at all like the character he played. Maybe some similarities, but I think the past couple of weeks he’s been able to erase the “he’s just playing himself” card. He hasn’t been out there much –until recently. Now I am a fanboy.
also I met an Oscar nominee last night. It was exciting, and he was incredibly nice. I got to tell him congrats and that I was rooting for him and Fincher (different films). Thanks Kris, and incontention for the Awards Lubcheon live feed , it gave me some talking points. And yes, I will leave it a mystery on the internet as to whom I am referring.
