Kris, the doc is on the Blu-ray release correct? I should be getting it from the wife for Valentine’s Day… can’t wait.

Wow. The Groundhog Day article is the most inspired piece I’ve read in a long, long time. Wow. Love it.

Nolan being snubbed in the director category was disheartening. I doubt this will happen, but I really wish that Academy members feel guilty about the Nolan snub and that they will feel the need to award him the Oscar for Screenplay. One Oscar win is better than two nominations. But as I’ve said, this scenario unfortunately has no chance of happening.

    “bless you, James Marsh.”

I think he came of as a huge d1ck personally. I am no Kevin Smith fan (I don’t think I’ve seen an entire film of his actually) but what is it to him? If Smith feels betrayed or whatever, it is his right. And even if he is a billion times wrong, what’s it to Marsh, anyway? I also think that he completely missed the point on Smith anyway (i.e. it’s not about quality – it’s about something else entirely).

It’s really sad hearing someone talk about humiliaty when their clearly have none.

Yeah that “Marsh” character was all kinds of vicious.

I think he had a great point to make. Kevin Smith has made a ton of money and gotten nothing but awful films made for nearly 20 years now, while far more talented filmmakers making far better films can barely get the money together for one film. Case in point: Darren Aronofsky. When he has to beg, borrow, etc for funding to make two masterpieces in a row, when Kevin Smith gets millions handed to him to make utter shit, there’s a larger problem at work, and for Smith to bitch and moan about people calling him out for not making a good film is both childish and hypocritical. Marsh makes this point and then some. I have no sympathy for a guy crying about people not liking Cop Out and badmouthing his actors and blaming everyone but himself for the quality and reception of the film, when Black Swan and The Wrestler barely get made on skeleton budgets.
