Hehehe that made me giggle. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush never fail to get it right, even when doing something really silly on screen, their delivery is so perfect. Can’t wait to see it.
Loved this. I’m guessing this will likley emerge as the front-runner, given the Weinstien involvement, tremendous talent involved, the period setting etc.
Over the past few days this movie has really rocketed near the top of my anticipated movies. It hasn’t quite beaten out The Social Network and the Illusionist yet, but it’s close.
So there’s a fair amount of humor in this! Seems they have taken what could appear to be dry on the page and turned it into something wonderful and engaging. Top of my anticipated list. Thanks.
I just love Helena Bonham Carter. Marvelous. As well as Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush. The two seem very likely to be honored in the incoming awards season.
Wow, I really like the look of this film. A lot. Firth looks amazing also, obviously. Third behind The Social Network and True Grit in terms of anticipation.
I love love love Helena Bonham Carter and I was beginning to worry that I’d only ever see her doing eccentric supporting roles for her hubby and roles where her casting was clearly influenced by her Burton repertoire (such as Bellatrix LeStrange, a character that could have easily strolled off the set of a Burton film).
Not that her performances in things like Big Fish or Alice in Wonderland are disappointments… but it wouldn’t be too bad to start seeing her do more “Wings of the Dove” type stuff again, you know?
And compliments to Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush simply go without saying. I thought this movie was going to be bland and boring, but it’s really shaping up to be one of my more anticipated upcoming films!
I hope this is in the same area as Milk was in biopics. I don’t mean necessarily in subject or themes, but just in quality. I noticed sometimes the best biopics aren’t based on a book, or look at a long spanning history of an interesting person, but merely a moment and never try to focus on too many other details that actually feel irrelevant. Also many biopics tend to feel repetitive.
Really looking forward to it. It looks like a director’s film, and as Kris puts it the film very much is.
I’m rooting for this one! (not based on this clip)
