I was hoping for a Blu-ray release this year for this same reason, but it looks like it won’t happen. I’m still hoping it will be announced for a christmas release or something.

They really did not know how to make trailers back then, did they?

They still don’t, for the most part.

If they’d stopped it at the 0:45 mark, that’d be one hell of a trailer.

LOL, I already knew somebody was going to say that before I wrote anything. But honestly, at least today (most) trailers have some semblance of pacing or dramatic momentum.

Indeed, a painful trailer. Doesn’t all that footage of the three leads on the final boat excursion ruin all the dramatic tension of their early attempts at killing the shark, particularly the time where Brody and Hooper go out at night?

Seriously, stopping it around the 0:40 mark would have been one hell of a teaser!

This movie always succeeds in scaring the crap out of me — perhaps one of only a few films to do so. What a masterpiece!

I saw JAWS on its opening weekend [I’m 57] The audience was terrified! I remember a particularly hysterical woman in back of me who jumped and sent a rain of popcorn over two rows. What I see most in this great film is the injection of genuine horror and menace into a classic adventure story.
