Mark-Paul Gosselaar, in character as Zack from ‘Saved by the Bell,’ interviewed on Late Night

Frankly, I think this bit on last night’s “Late Night” is one of two or three funny ideas Jimmy Fallon has ever had.  And it totally sings.  Nikki Finke, by the way, is taking heavy fire for hating on the sketch.

I agree with you that it was a great idea. Execution- not so much.

I saw this on another site earlier this morning and thought it was pretty funny, I especially liked the parts where he “froze” time and the part where he pulled out that massive cell phone. The Tiffani Thiessen 90210 reference was pretty clever too, even if it took a while for audience to catch on.

I grew up on Saved by the Bell! I guess my post came off as me not realizing that those moments were direct references to the show, sorry for the confusion.

The references to Good Morning Ms. Bliss (moving from Indiana) and Johnny Dakota were, well, awesome. Whoever wrote that knew their stuff.

I always forget that it was “Good Morning Ms. Bliss” before it transitioned to “Saved by the Bell”. Probably because I only got familiar with those episodes through reruns.

Oh man. That show was my Sunday morning ritual. That and it’s many different versions. The theme song is iconic. The clip was pretty funny too.

It was a great sketch and I would actually say a CLASSIC. Gosselaar is quite funny. He did good work on NYPD Blue and is totally likeable in TNT’s Raising the Bar.
