Wow, ‘Man on Wire’ lost something…

… as “Waltz With Bashir” helmer Ari Folman beat James Marsh in the Documentary category at the DGA Awards. Not that it means anything really in the grand scheme of things but, y’know, interesting.

(I’d say it seals up “Bashir”‘s probable victory in the foreign-language race, but if there’s one Oscar category that’s resistant to the notion of a ‘sure thing,’ it’s that one.)

Waltz is a better film. Though Man on Wire is more enjoyable. Waltz truly pushes the genre into a new direction.

Well if “Man on Wire” had to lose to something, I’d definitely say “Waltz with Bashir” was the one to do it. Both brilliant. I do prefer the former, however.
