The Globes come back tonight in all their boozning and schmoozing glory. There are a few parties going on during and after the show, but I have to say, I’m tempted to pack it in, watch a few football games and catch the awards on the couch. It’s been a busy week.

Langella, really?
Good call on Langella, he was my prediction. I think he had the best performance of the year (I haven’t seen The Wrestler though, still). Slumdog is the best pic of the year for me, and I think it will win but Benjamn Button I think has an equal shot at winning, because the Globes seems to usually pic the artsy one of the group, and epics are always favorites. I’m surprised at not chosing Heath because I think he has both this and the Oscar in the bag, no question. I hope Kate can win Drama Actress

Robert Downey Jr. over Heath Ledger? That would be ridiculous.
Downey Jr. over Ledger would probably result in Downey Jr. refusing to accept the award.
Honoring a joke performance over a performance for the ages? Not gonna happen.
I can only assume your pick is a pre-emptive shot at softening the blow in case it does somehow come to pass…
Gareth: The cold truth: if you’re not alive to accept the award, the HFPA can be fickle. That’s all I’m saying. Maybe they’ll prove me wrong.
After I saw the reaction at the Critic’s choice awards I can’t see anyone but Heath winning but you do make a good point Kris.
Gutsy choices here. Gabriel over Bruce?
Hathaway shouldnt be anyones first choice to win over Thomas, Streep or Winslet. terrible.
“The cold truth: if you’re not alive to accept the award, the HFPA can be fickle. That’s all I’m saying. Maybe they’ll prove me wrong.”
I hope that’s not the case. If that’s true, the HFPA will have a lot of criticism the next Monday and their credibility will disappeare… First Tom Cruise’s nomination and now this…

I kinda want Ledger to lose a “public” award just to see how the winner handles it.
Isn’t Ledger’s family at the show tonight? Would they really fly all the way from Australia just to see him lose?
Well, they are flying hoping he will win, but I doubt the HFPA would tell them in advance that he is winning. I actually could see Downey winning (I’m predicting Ledger, but a Downey upset wouldn’t surprise) as he would probably be the biggest star to win tonight if he prevailed and I’m sure, especially after last year’s show, that they would love to have a big star up there.
Dammit. Changed my score prediction at the last second. Oy.
6/13. Ouch. Though I gotta say, I’m glad you were wrong where you were wrong.
Plus, who could have possibly called the Kate Winslet double win?
Worse predictions ever.
Yeah, 0/4 on the leads, Kris? Tsk, tsk, you must be slipping in your old age, hehe. Who am I kidding, I didn’t even both to make predictions, althought I think Hawkins was the easiest call of them all. No way they’d reward Streep for Mamma Mia! when she was soooo much better in Doubt, not that I saw MM!
I like Heath Ledger as an actor but all this Ledger “Dark Knight” fanboy hysteria has become nauseating. I read a newspaper article or column from an entertainment journalist a few weeks ago stating the case against Ledger winning or even being nominated this year for DK in light of other performers. I wish I would have kept it so I could use those argument here. Still looking for it. I can see Ledger being nominated and hope he is but to say he is more worthy of an OSCAR than say Philip Seymour Hoffman in Doubt for one is ridiculous. Of course, this is only my humble preference.
