‘Wrestler’ leads with five OFCS nominations

Written by

(from left) Evan Rachel Wood and Mickey Rourke in The WrestlerA little late coming around to the Online Film Critics Society nominations, but eh, nothing terribly unique about them, beyond mentions for Benicio Del Toro in lead actor and “The Wrestler” in Best Pic (which led the field with five nominations).  I also like the novel choice of “Let the Right One In” as an adapted screenplay nominee (well, not THAT novel).

It’s interesting to note a total lack of acting nominations for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”

I really like these nominations, not that they mean anything. But yay for Michelle Williams, and “Synecdoche” in screenplay.

Switch Sally Hawkins for Melissa Leo and you would have my dream Oscar line up for Best Actress.

5 animated movie nods? Now that’s novel.

Love them for nominating Del Toro in “Che” as best actor but agree with Guy, they are meaningless except to those who did the nominating and the voting on the winners.

I just saw they didnt even nominate Million Dollar Baby. These are terrible when it comes to predict the oscars.

Well, Paulo, that’s hardly their reason for existence.

OFCS consist of 128 men and 8 women. They should be called The Guy´s Online Film Critics Society.
And The National Society of Film Critics: 50 men and 10 women.
I bet all the other critics groups look much the same. I think I just lost interest in the Awards season.
