    A Confederacy of Dunces.

McCain/Palin…think if Nixon was president during the Cuban missile crisis.

No matter how dumb they are. There’s always the more dumbers majority voting for them. I still fear they will win the election. I am sorry, shocked even.

The thing with politics is that there’s so much hypocrascy on both sides. “Obama doesn’t have enough experience,” “Palin’s just as qualified as Obama”…

Most of us (despite our better efforts) are usually blind to our particular candidate’s failings, always pushing their successes to the forefront. It’s just the way our ( the US, that is) system is.

In the long run, it doesn’t really matter who wins this election – half of us are going to be disappointed, claiming the the other side cheated somehow – this country is not going to get much better unless we elect a Congress that actually works. Yes, for all the hoopla surrounding the presidential election, it should be nothing compared to who the actual lawmakers are: our Representatives and Senators. They (for the most part, despite what many presidents have done and claimed in the past) are responsible for making sure our country works, for making healthcare more affordable, for finding more fuel sources, and for our general well-being as a country.

If Obama is president, our taxes will go up, our security will go down.

If McCain is president, our taxes will go up, our security will go down.

They (McCain and Obama) can say whatever they want about how they plan to “bring change” and “make things better,” but they can’t unless we have a Congress on our side. And right now we don’t. We just don’t.

I fully believe that our next president will be a lame-duck. We are entering a new Guilded Age here in America. We are a fickle populace and we are impatient. We do want change and to have things better, but we can’t rely on the promises and empty rhetoric of two men who, despite their varied life experiences, don’t know what it’s like to struggle to pay their bills, find good affordable healthcare, send their kids to college…

I apologize for rambling, but given the state of affairs (and the approachability Kris has alloted this topic on his site) I just felt I had to say something. Please, every registered American voter, set the presidential candidtates to the side for just a day or two and find out who’s running to be your Senator and Representative – they matter to you noe more than ever.
