I agree. Blood Diamond is vastly overrated and terribly offensive, simplistic even. Great performances and brilliant music can’t change that.
Anyhow, another actor’s film but no overall nods.

Why the industry keeps attaching so much prestige to Zwick’s films is a puzzle to me – it’s just one self-important disappointment after another. They always look terribly pretty and have a good performance or two (actually scatch that – I just flashed back to Legends of the Fall) but his whole model of filmmaking is just so dated. Hopefully, this will reverse the trend, but I’m not counting on it.
He should stick to producing – he does much more exciting work in that arena.

I really want to see this, but that poster totally sucks.
How can anyone dig Edward Zwick? His films are terrible.
If only someone like Stephen Gaghan was hired to write Blood Diamond…one can dream.

I still want to see it.
I have a feeling that this will be a major contender this year. This could be the film that brings Zwick long deserved GLORY.
