Aaron Eckhart dropped by “The Tonight Show” Monday night. Of course, I wasn’t able to catch it, but here’s the “Dark Knight” stuff (Michael Caine will be on the show tonight):

‘Dark Knight’ interviews with cast and crew
Warner Bros. publicity has made the round table interviews from last weekend’s “Dark Knight” junket available. There’s a lot of good, in-depth stuff from Christopher Nolan, Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart and the rest.
There is, however, a big hole in everything, because you can’t help but wish Heath Ledger was there to discuss his approach to a character that seems to be an award-worthy swan song.
Keep in mind that these are junketers…so sometimes you get a few doosey questions (usually the first person out of the gate). But everyone weathers the storm well enough. Pay attention to the end of the Bale file; he talks briefly about Michael Mann’s upcoming “Public Enemies” and McG’s “Terminator Salvation.”
There is also a slight spoiler around the 11:00 mark of the Aaron Eckhart interview, however, one that you might want to skip. It isn’t specific, but it’s enough information that could be irritating to know before seeing the film. Enjoy.

Eckhart on Dent
My guy identifies with everybody in the movie…Really, all of it is more than an adventure tale, it’s somewhat of a mirror of our times. It deals with some fundamental questions of what’s going on in society. To me, this film is about how Batman feels about justice, how he takes care of the city, how he feels about the Joker when he meets him and sees what he is capable of doing. How he feels when Harvey Two-Face takes matters into his own hands. It’s not simple, and it gets ugly. I think people will be surprised.
From this weekend’s profile in the LA Times.

A 3-hour ‘Dark Knight’
I, like virtually everyone else in the world, can’t wait to see Chris Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” this summer. In addition to being the following up to “Batman Begins,” everything about it so far looks riveting, Nolan has continued to prove himself and I fully expect Aaron Eckhart and Heath Ledger to hit their roles out of the park.
But Dark Horizons is today reporting that the film is going to come in and around the three hour mark. While I have the utmost faith in Nolan to entertain and make an all around great movie, this running time nevertheless gives me some concern. I like my superhero movies at the 110-120 minute mark.
Again, I’m not worried – I’m just hoping this is not a misstep.

Harvey Dent’s coming out party in NYC
It looks like Warner Bros. unveiled the new trailer for “The Dark Knight” at the New York Comic-Con over the weekend (I still feel burned they never turned anything up in San Diego last summer). As expected, the PR focus has shifted off of the Joker character in the wake of Heath Ledger’s death and over to Aaron Eckhart’s Harvey Dent. The new trailer comes amid a flurry of recent viral PR for the film aimed at the district attorney character, both on the net and in the “real world.”
Did I mention how much my head is about to explode with anticipation over this film? And if it’s nearly three hours long — God help me, I’ll be in batty heaven.
But back to Dent, I think this series has the makings of putting Eckhart in a very exciting position in 2011, much like the anticipation over Ledger’s Joker portrayal. Eckhart as Two-Face could be just as explosive, just as creepy and, perhaps, twice as ruthless. We have to get there first, and “The Dark Knight” will be our road there…
…that’s all I’m sayin’.
