Variety’s Anne Thompson interviewed “Twilight” director Catherine Hardwicke and “The Spirit” helmer Frank Miller for her latest column in the build-up to this year’s San Diego Comic Convention. But Miller pegged this overblown, over-infested blight when he offered:
It’s now turned into Disneyland, a multimedia congress astonishing in its scale.
No doubt. And sad, too.

No, the sad thing is that you are agreeing with a shitrag like Miller.
I may undersrand your point (not that I agree with it) but boy you could have pulled a different quote or something.
Ever been to Comic-Con, Proman? He nailed it. Regardless of whether you feel him to be a “shitrag” or not.
Yes, I’ve been to Comic-Con a few times. I’ve also been to E3 and many others.
Well then you should see his point.
There’s not much of a point. Especially coming from him. It’s hardly a revelation and hardly justifies a posting (IMHO).
That said I think there are a lot of benefits to this Disneyland and I also think that ultimately it’s not that bad for the industry or the fandom. And I say it because I’ve been to small and tiny cons too. It’s all good.
It justifies a posting if I think it’s a point worth making (however obvious). We disagree on whether it’s good for “fandom,” but there’s no denying it’s good for the industry. They’ve milked and raped the market to squeeze anything into the convention to tap into that base. Get Smart at a comic convention. Give me a break.
