I figured I’d wait until Saturday to see what most folks are paying to see this weekend, and it appears “The Hangover” is taking the new release crown. I never got around to a review of the film, though I offered some fleeting comments last weekend. Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.

It was brilliant. Funniest film of the year so far.
Hilarious. But I’d like to call to attention to Brad Cooper’s acting. He made Phil a more interestering character that described on a page.
I loved it, absolutely loved it. I have to second the mention of Cooper’s acting, I think he’s the real breakout comedy star of this movie and maybe this year.
that whole slow motion scene with the little kid and how he’s dead serious when he steps up to get revenge on “Fat Jesus” had me nearly in tears.
seems like everyone on Facebook had a status about how they loved the film. I don’t think i’ve heard a negative word about the film yet
1st time I laugh all the way though a movie in all long time. The ensemble cast were great Cooper, and Zach G. Funny, Funny movie wish it was longer….
Coolest opening credits sequence of the year?
Zach G.’s “I’m really stupid” thing got old after some of his jokes, but it was for the most part pretty funny. Ed Helms was decent as the straight man. But Bradley Cooper made this movie great for me. When the Chinese man told him what he had done, Cooper just started laughing, which sealed the deal for me. I hope he gets more work. He’s really funny, and deserves better than having his best role be the jerk from Wedding Crashers.
The Vengeance Kid…that face…funniest thing all year. Great call, davidraider.
Also, the moment the dude leaps out of the trunk. The timing was great.
Also, they turned down opportunities for predictable gags, like when the valet guy brought them the car. They could have had something fall off at the end of the scene, but they didn’t. Nice restraint right there.
Sigh, the Vengeance Kid. So damn funny, just perfect.
Kris, loved the opening credits and I’d say it had the coolest opening AND closing credits of the year… but I forgot about Watchmen. Hangover had very cool credits, loved the ominous tone for a comedy, but I don’t think anything is topping Watchmen this year. I’d have to be pretty fucking impressed.
Funniest movie Ive seen in theatres sense Superbad, a great suprise and is fine with being only what it is which makes it all that more enjoyable
The acting really stood out by the leads. It sounds like Bradley Cooper is getting most of the love and rightfully so I suppose but for my money Ed Helms really brought it. I thought he was amazing in a role that is so often played waaay over the top. He kept it grounded yet hilarious.
**SPOILER ALERT**
I don’t think I’m spoiling anything but just in case…
The movie itself was a well made film overall starting with the great opening credit sequence and ending with a side splitting closing credit sequence. I thought visually it was great and there were a few scenes and camera tricks that were awesome. It really was an all around brilliant film.
A couple small things, I didn’t like the simultaneous rolling of credits and slideshow though but that’s probably just because it’s the Hollywood thing to pay tribute to all those involved. It was unbelievably funny but there wee a couple spots that I thought they left laughs out there that could have been had by adding something i.e. the cutting of the hand could of used a funny little believe gushing of blood. I also thought the woman concierge was unbearable to watch. Her acting was so bad I couldn’t wait for that scene to end. Yes, I’m nit-picking but just relaying what went through my mind throughout the film.
Damian: That’s a fake trailer, friend. This ain’t The Wrap.
While I agree that Cooper was awesome in this, I really think the stand out was Zach G, but maybe I’m biased and want him to really hit it big because I love his standup.
While I’m not a big fan of comedies like this I ended up liking it, but not as much as many of you do.
I found the gay, urine and feces jokes just a bit too much in quantity to my liking (I’m never fond of those) but there were both subtle (“he’s like a gremlin”…” I’ll have a bottle of water” “I’m a doctor, not a roadmap”) and more outreageous jokes that I really liked and truly enjoyed. Also, the photography was excellent and I loved how the characters were difficult to really like, especially Fat Jesus.
I enjoyed it and will certainly recommend it to others, if only for the fact that they won’t be nearly as critical as me.
Oh, I loved that tease, Kris.
I can’t believe no one has mentioned the hilarious rendition of 50 Cent’s “Candy Shop” by that wedding singer!!
One thing that bummed me out was that I was the only one in the theater that laughed at the Rain Man reference. I guess I must be a fish out of water at uncultured Milford, CT.
Sorry people but I thought it was garbage.
Same here, i tought it was crap as well.
Sorry to hear that boys.
Personally, I loved this movie. My first Blu-ray purchase, this gets put up next to Anchorman.
(yeah, I know, 2007 called. Do you really think people even remember their own first Blu-ray?)
People that didn’t like this film…
You need to lighten up alittle bit…pull the cork out of your ass…get a sence of humor…Top ten funniest movies of all time hands down…
And i didn’t understand when cooper said he has instructions he is like a gremlin…I was dying in the theather i too must be old….
You’re right Luke. Where can I get one of these “sence of humor” you talk about?
Where the hell was our Friday forecast?
