First images, teaser poster for ‘Biutiful’

As I mentioned in my Cannes preview, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Biutiful” is the director’s first Spanish-language effort since his 2000 debut “Amores Perros.” That, combined with the star power of Javier Bardem, means more eyes on this one than most of its Competition rivals. Thanks to D*Hollywood for the film’s Cannes poster. Two stills after the cut.

(By the way, the third and final part of my Cannes preview will go up tomorrow. Apologies for the delay.)

    Best Actor nomination!

Bardem makes me want to be interested, but Iñárritu’s films are nothing worth being excited about. Babel is sleep-inducing.

As you might remember, I think “Amores Perros” is worth getting very excited about indeed.

“Babel” is one of my personal favorite films. Stunning, powerful. Extraordinary filmmaking. Unforgettable performances.

I can’t wait for “Biutiful”. Javier Bardem is a great, versatile actor. His performances in “No Country for Old Men” and “The Sea Inside” are brilliant.

I thought Amores Perros was mediocre, but better than Babel for sure. Outside of Fatih Akin, the hyperlink films never work for me.

Babel is amazing, IMO, as is Amores Perros. But I’m not sure what Inarritu without Arriaga will yield. We’ll find out soon.

I think Javier Bardem might act in this one.

You think he might act in this one? You mean Javier Bardem really is a sociopathic killer and a quadriplegic former ship mechanic and a gay Cuban poet? He’s even more interesting than I thought.

Kris: Yeah, I’m a little nervous about this one. Hope it finds something new to do with the “childhood friends on opposite sides of the law” chestnut.

Very cool poster. Like the rest of the world, this is one of the Cannes entries I’m most the most eager about.

Babel is a near perfect movie. I love it.

I love all three of “Amores Perros,” “21 Grams” and “Babel.” Excellent films.

Nice poster here, I really like that shallow focus.

Admittedly, this one’s been under my radar so far, but this poster really has me intrigued! It has this great kind of straightforwardness to it. And with Bardem involved, ‘Biutiful’ might have the potential to be an intense character study.

I loved all three of Inarritu’s films. And I love Bardem. So I am really looking forward to this. Fantastic poster and great stills!

Alright Javier, in this shot you’re gonna be super bummed…

This looks like a blurred passport mug. Even the film doesn’t interest me. But I’ll take your recommendation and catch up with Amores Perros soon.

You might have already seen this but this is a magnificent poster from the new Assayas film.
