Neither here nor there, BUT…

…I just realized that only two films have held the pic slot above the Best Picture predictions in the right sidebar all year long. Those two films? “Amelia” and “Nine.”

anyone else find it interesting that this years strongest oscar films(besides uita) are all original screenplays, all were adapted last year, when was the last time this happened?

Don’t you count An Education as a strong film? And though I am sooooooooo not on the Precious train, I think most will call it strong too.

I hope that an Alice in Wonderland’s picture is not put there in 2010. Really hope to see this film, Burton, Depp and Hathaway going all the way to the Oscars.

Andrew (Encore), I know the question for not for me…

but I still don’t know where will An Education get all those hunders of no. 1 and 2 on the ballots… Fine with me, but I’m still unsure. At least Up has the animated branch, or the most of it.

Will all the Brits be voting with An Education? Won’t the ladies go more with Precious? or Clooney, for that matter…

Who has the biggest fans? District 9 and Star Trek. which worries me, cause I didn’t like any of them

I’d love to see on the final 10 the movie District 9!!
Avatar it deserves too… except from that I’ve not seen any other exceptional movie. (UP is perfection on his first 15 minutes, but after is not that great)
So so year til now for me… I’m expecting the films that still don’t come to Chile!

Uh, why not from the actors that just gave it an ensemble nod? You know, the biggest branch of the Academy?

Are you afraid that if you change it to another film you might jinx it?

    Please put Invictus there. :D

hmmm… Kris, you can say the same thing for Nine. and we know it’s not true.
I don’t know what kind of ballots SAG uses, but I’m not sure it’s that relevant. It’s just possible An Education got a lot of 3rd places or 4th which was enough to secure a 5th Ensemble spot.

Let’s not forget 2 years ago No Country for Old Men was the only future BP nominee from the 5 SAG ensemble. which included 3:10 to Yuma, Hairspray (both of which I’m sure u’ll agree wouldn’t have made it to Top 10) and maybe not even American Gangster.

so I’m a bit worried about An Education. And Up.

Hoping the UK contigent in the Academy some love for Bright Star, although An Education will get alot of their attention

Maybe this is like the Madden curse or something…

You’re saying you don’t think An Education will get #1 ballots, Alex. I’m saying, for obvious reasons, actors will be voting for it. And just looking at, say, critics’ top 10 lists: Plenty of top spots for “An Education.” Virtually none for “Nine.” So to use the musical as an argument against what I’m putting out there, it doesn’t wash.

In any case, yes, its worth noting the SAG Nom Comm is a much different body than the AMPAS actors branch, but I think “An Education” is respected by actors and they’ll make that respect known.

Being put on that sidebar is a jinx! It’s like an NFL player getting on the cover of the Madden video game.

    JP don’t forget Helena Bonham-Carter….

She’s so good in portraying villain roles… Love to see her nominated…

So now it’s Invictus? Another film with NO SHOT at the Oscar. :-s

I see you changed it to Invictus, which I just finally saw tonight. I really hope this jinx doesn’t stick, because the film actually really surprised me.
