Any chance that the Weinsteins could push Nine to December and give the holiday-into-January run that Chicago had?

If it wasn’t for the Academy opening the Best Picture race to 10 nominees, I would agree with EW on Beauty and the Beast being the one and only animated feature to be nominated for Best Picture. I think Up gets in this year.

I saw Up last week and it is still swirling around in my mind. Another instant classic from Pixar. 10 for 10. Thankfully, with Ratatouille, Wall-E and Up, Cars is starting to look like an aberration. I like Cars, but it doesn’t come close to the other three.

For what it’s worth, I think The Incredibles is Pixar’s best movie and Finding Nemo would be in my top half of Pixar’s output.

What is up with all these Oscar hopefuls opening so early? It seemed like everything came out in late December last year.

Up is the #3 animated movie of all time? Really? People can talk about its Best Pic chances all they want, but in my mind, it won’t deserve it. I’d rank Harry Potter, District 9, and even Julie & Julia above it.

I really think Up will come to be seen as a lesser Pixar movie. Not quite Cars, but not even close to Finding Nemo/Wall-E.
