The press release, in part:
On the occasion of its 80th anniversary, and in recognition of the extraordinary role it has played in educating and training tens of thousands of men and women in the cinematic arts and sciences, the USC School of Cinematic Arts will be honored with a “star of recognition” by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, September 10 at 11AM at a formal ceremony to take place in front of the newly unveiled SCA complex at USC.
Hollywood Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Leron Gubler will present the star to School of Cinematic Arts (SCA) Dean Elizabeth M. Daley to both underscore and celebrate SCA’s “extraordinary contributions to the entertainment industry over the past 80 years.” Joining Daley and Gubler at the ceremony will be a host of notable SCA alumni, current students, and the USC marching band.
The SCA commemorative star features a unique design, though comparable in motif and size to the “Walk of Fame” stars presented to celebrities.
Fight on.

Well, at least George Lucas’ quarter billion dollar donation went to good use.
Didn’t USC reject Steven Spielberg, like, five times?
Maybe he sucked back then.
WELL, AT LEAST THIS IS A GOOD CONSOLATION PRIZE FOR LOSING TO OHIO STATE ON SEP. 12! Sorry, I couldn’t read a post about SoCal without mentioning football!
Yes, the best football team that $ can buy…..
The same OSU we demolished last year, you mean? What was it, like 35-3 or something ridiculous like that?
:)
It was 35-3. I hope OSU turns the tables on them this year in Columbus. Go Bucks!
When will the Cal Arts animation program get their own star for training the geniuses at Pixar?
I guess when they’ve done it for 80 years.
Where’s the AFI Conservatory’s star?
Oops I forgot, we don’t get billion dollar donations so we can’t pay for ours.
:)
Jus playin…congrats USC
It’s all about FSU, baby! Go Noles!
Which btw has a top 5 film school.
Kris, did u do USC post-grad or are you just a fan?
Went to USC for a Masters in journalism the last two years. Film school in NC.
Why USC and not NYU. I smell a West Coast bias. I mean, Scorsese, Oliver Stone, Spike Lee, Joel Coen, Phil Hoffman, Jolie, Bernie Herrmann, Jeff Wright, Tomei, Tony Kushner, etc. I give it a year before my alma mater gets one of its own.
