Bill Paxton on Cameron, Bigelow

Bill PaxtonActor Bill Paxton always seems to give Kevin Bacon a run for his money in the “six degrees” department.  I’ve always joked that if they ever wanted to nut up and do “Aliens vs. Predator vs. Terminator,” Paxton had better be in it since he’s the common thread throughout.

That ubiquity has, of course, led him to work with a number of talented filmmakers, including the two at the center of this year’s Best Director showdown.  For James Cameron Paxton has appeared in everything from “The Terminator” to “True Lies,” while he starred in Kathryn Bigelow’s 1987 vampire western “Near Dark.”

The actor stopped by Jimmy Fallon last night (which I was only watching because it was background noise — I try to steer clear of frat boy hour) and Fallon asked about working with the two of them, especially Cameron.  It’s not earth-shattering stuff but it makes for nice viewing on an idle Wednesday.  Although it’s too bad there was no “Reach!” inquiry.  Have a look after the jump.

UPDATE: Commenter JTag points us to an interview Paxton did with Jay Leno a while back where he discusses the two directors as well:

He was also asked about them on Jay Leno when he was on a couple of weeks ago and actually mentioned the filming of “Reach” (this was before the video broke all over the web). http://tinyurl.com/paxleno Starts at 3:14

FYI, Paxton was Cameron’s best man at the Cameron/Bigelow wedding.

Wow, what part did he play in Terminator and Predator? Don’t recall him being in those at all.

Oh, he’s on Big Love too! He seems like one of those actors who can fade in and out easily…he’s vanilla.

    @ tony rock:

He was part of the gang of punks Ah-nold encounters when he first arrives in L.A.

He had a big role in “Predator 2,” but not the first one.

I recently watched Aliens again and he was infectious as the irritating sidekick marine. Loved him there and in Titanic too.

    Man, Jimmy Fallon is terrible.

Jimmy Fallon is not terrible and I don’t know how you view his show as “frat boy hour” Kristopher. His late show is by far the most silly and care free of the options out there, The Roots are great every night, his interviewees are always laid back and willing to have a lot of fun and aren’t simply giving their standard lines of self promotion. Fallon may be a bit awkward at times but he is a blast most of the time and I don’t see how we can call a geeky goof ball’s show “frat boy hour”

I really have no idea as to who will win Best Picture/Directing. Therefore, I’m going with my gut and say “Avatar” takes Best Picture and “The Hurt Locker” Best Directing. Why? I have no idea.

mmm… Bill Paxton looks manly delicious in the pic and in the interview…..yeah, Jimmy Fallon not my cup of tea (except for his looks), not funny enough, not crazy enough, my choice would be Craig Ferguson for pure WTF….

@me #10 – No way. Hurt Locker will sweep. First woman in 85 years. Come on! That’s history. Cameron already has a trunkload of gold and booty from the film’s box office anyway. Like it matters if he gets one more statue. He goes home with one visual effects Oscar consolation prize anyway. That’s more than enough.
