Probably the single best film poster I saw last year, Jeremy Saunders’ Australian one-sheet design for “Antichrist” (below left) garnered a fair amount of internet fame. So it’s not surprising that, for the film’s UK DVD release, designers have opted for a coarser knock-off of Saunders’ concept. It says something for a film’s cultural standing when it can be represented in this kind of symbolic shorthand.

I hated the movie, but I must confess that that scene, as well as the cinder block and many others, have stuck with me while I cannot remember basic plot points of other films. I must give Trier credit for that, at least.
Haven’t seen the film, but I’m aware of what She does at the end…and I’m guessing the blood running between the scissors….
Oh God. Brain Bleach…..BRAIN BLEACH!!!!
That DVD cover is tacky.
The US DVD will probably be the two blown-up heads of Gainsbourg and Dafoe, hugging each other and smiling widely. Little Children all over again.
They’ll probably throw an adorable fox in there too.
That one sheet makes me cross my legs.
I think the bluntness of the poster is pretty funny. It teeters on being too blunt and in your face, but is very cool nonetheless.
Wow. That poster is very disturbing. lol. “Antichrist” looks like a very interesting film, although really disturbing. I’m definately waiting till I’m older before watching it.
I prefer the poster to the DVD cover. It was just enough to tip you off and to wink at everyone else to say “Yeah, you know what happens.” It’s devilishly funny. The only funnier thing I’ve seen linked to Antichrist is that beautiful “CHAOS REIGNS” poster of Fantastic Mr. Fox.
The quote from Dave Edwards pretty sums it up for me.
Too quick to type….
The quote from Dave Edwards pretty much sums it up for me.
As a huge Von Trier fan (loved Waves, Dancer, Dogville), I have to say I hated this film. Seemed utterly pointless
I wonder why all of these designers are singling out the scissors…
Somebody get those scissors a tampon.
