Gervais does Conan

I haven’t offered any comment on the Conan/Leno/NBC situation because, well, I’m not privy to the particulars.  There’s always more nuance than the usual scapegoating that gets perpetuated by, say, geek media outlets who couldn’t have less of a clue.  I’m a Conan fan before I’m a Leno fan (I’ll be in the audience at The Tonight Show Tuesday), but I also understand something called “business.”

Anyway, that having been said, I liked the playful joshing between Ricky Gervais and O’Brien regarding the situation throughout last night’s interview.  The Globes ought to be a hoot Sunday night with Gervais as emcee.  Parts 2-4 after the jump.

Gervais is going to make the perfect Globes host! It’s much more suited to his style than the Oscars telecast.

With the way things are going, both shows are likely to get their highest ratings in years… And though I would’ve liked to see Hugh Jackman return to hosting duties, I think Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin will do just as well. Should be a fun watch!

I hope Conan’s still on The Tonight Show next week, Kris.

I think it’s going to be his last week. Hanks was just slotted for Tuesday.

Gervais is absolutely brilliant. Can’t wait to see him on Sunday. And poor Conan, NBC really is royally screwing him.

Gervais was, as he always is, brilliant. Pity that Conan’s being forced out (and NBC is being monumentally stupid in doing the forcing), as his buzz is higher than when he started Tonight Show, I bet.
