Okay, who is Betty White’s publicist and has he or she slept at all this season?
Seriously, first there were some scattered web ads pushing White’s performance in “The Proposal” for Best Supporting Actress, then there was this massive spread in the trades gunning for the same. (That ad was lovingly chided by the cut-ups at Vulture this week.)
It was announced back in September that White would receive the Screen Actors Guild’s lifetime achievement award, but now comes (perhaps totally anticipated) word that Sandra Bullock, “it” girl of the year, will be presenting White with said honor.
By the way, in case you missed it when Chad brought it up Sunday, Bullock made history this weekend when “The Blind Side” became the first female-driven vehicle to cross the $200 million mark.
But back to White — seriously — someone’s hoofing it on her behalf. Hard core. I mean, the performance, not that grand. But screw it, right? This is Rose we’re talkin’ about! And I’m saying it now. If “Thank You for Being a Friend” isn’t the cue when she walks to the stage, something’s wrong with the world.
The 16th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will be held on Saturday, January 23.

Yikes. What’s so good about Bullock? Why not choosing another co-star that probably meant more to Mrs White?
I thinking choosing the other remaining, living Golden Girl, Rue McClanahan, would have been a much more endearing and sentimental choice.
BUT, this is Bullock’s year, and they’re just going full steam to support her.
I do love Betty White though. And although it was driven by her cute appearance in The Proposal, she COMPLETELY deserves this recognition for her lifelong commitment to TV in The Golden Girls, The Mary Tyler Moore Show,…Password (lol), and most recently her batshit crazy recurring role on those shows I don’t care for, Boston Legal & The Practice. So, yay for Rose Nylund! You are St. Olaf’s Woman of the Year. OOF-DAH!
Bold and The Beautiful is likley to win the emmy agian for the storyline of her charcter’s death.
Calling The Blind Side female driven is just crazy. There’s so much campaigning going on behind Bullock that statement’s like these were obviously bound to come up. I thought it was a sports movie from what I recall

Umm… I may be missing something, but wasn’t “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” a female-driven vehicle? I just have doubts about this historic moment thing.
