This installment of New York Times critic A.O. Scott’s Critics’ Picks landed last week sometime, but I just now stumbled across an embed. “Aguirre, the Wrath of God” has a firm place in my top 15 films of all time, so it goes without saying, I was interested. I thought I’d pass along:

Easily one of the greatest, visionary achievements ever portrayed in film. A film of mystery and mystical beauty. Haunting, hallucinatory and trascendental. Herzog’s masterpiece.

I’ve always pronounced it Aguirre like Maguire, so is Aguirre supposed to be pronounced like a-gear-eh?

Something interesting (and awesome) I just found out: A.O. Scott chose “Where the Wild Things Are” as the 5th best film of this decade.

Go to atthemoviestv.com. So far, though, they’re only up to 5. They’re revealing a pick each week.

I saw that, RE: Wild Things, earlier in the week. All I could do is ask: Really?

Me no likey. Herzog is sucks and “Aguirre” is not any better than the terrible and terribly pretentious “Cobra Verde”.
