Looks like Michael Caine’s most badass role since Get Carter back in ’71. When’s this coming out in the US? That date in the trailer seems to be for it’s UK release.

Man, that’s a great trailer. Who doesn’t love Caine in Get Carter mode? It will make a ton of money. They gave it a standing ovation at Toronto.

Not exactly an original story, now is it?

For all the talk of Oscars Michael Caine won that he didn’t deserve, let’s talk nods he deserved that he didn’t get, like the mentioned MONA LISA, or his heartbreaking work in CHILDREN OF MEN (When they say Best Supporting Actor, what do they mean if not a performance like that), and hope he’s in the hunt. Looks to be some of his best work in ages.

The trailer lost me… doesn’t look great. Might rent it on DVD on a rainy day.
On the topic of Children of Men:
If there was any justice, Clive Owen would have been nominated for Best Actor (and most likely won), Julianne Moore would have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress (and maybe won), Michael Caine would have won Best Supporting Actor, Alfonso Cuaron would have won Best Achievement in Directing (or whatever it’s called) and Children of Men would have won Best Picture.
And whoever made that trailer should have won an award for best first use of Hoppipola in a trailer before those bastards at Fox Searchlight used it again for Slumdog Millionaire.

“Finally…a film that really matters!” LOL that must be the best line ever used in a trailer for a film such as this. Looks like a massive guilty pleasure.

Michael Caine doing kind of a more realistic version of Gran Torino… Looks good anyway, and I will definitely watch it for Caine. He’s one of the greatest actors alive and he deserved both of his Oscars, no matter anyone says…
To each his own, Chad. But I agree with ALEX for the most part. I feel Caine should have been nominated..but not won. And the directing was brilliant. It was almost like choreography the way the sets were placed up and how the camera and direction were so fluid. Astonishing is the only word that comes to mind.

Wheeee, I’m Chad Hartigan! I looooove getting attention by being an Armond White contrarian. Wheeeeeee!
Look, having a different opinion than everyone else has its own merit, and often times come from a place of genuine feeling and not simply grabbing a spotlight, but “Children of Men is garbage”?!?
Not “Children of Men isn’t good” or “Children of Men is vastly overrated”? It’s GARBAGE?
You disgust me.
Brian
Julianne Moore is pretty terrible in Children of Men.

Looks like great work from brilliant character actor David Bradley.
That looks really, really good.

I shouldn’t have posted that comment. It was inciting and off topic and I’m not really interested in arguing about it. My bad people.
