You’d think that Crowe who is a professional director and big Pearl Jam fan could’ve come up with something better.
Speaking of PJ, I know their new album BACKSPACER comes out Sept 20, but what about the rest of their remastered/remixed re-issues? Only TEN was rereleased recently.
They said they will re-release/re-master the other early albums at one point, they wanted to have some out by their 20th anniversary next year.
I think Crowe is also doing a doc on PJ.
PJ also has a deal with Target with this album, so I assume we will be seeing Crowe directed commercials (maybe just footage from this video).
Looking forward to the album, not too impressed with what I have managed to hear so far. I am REALY upset at the length of this album though, 36 minutes is WAY too short today. They no longer have the constraints of fitting music on 1 LP…

I think it’s refreshing that they’re coming up with an album of quick songs for a change. Each song will average less than 3 minutes and a half.
Just picked up tickets for Pearl Jam at the Gibson Amphitheatre in October. The song is catchy, the video is ok, the green screen background inserts are kind of distracting, hope Crowe’s documentary is better than this.

Mike,
Just because a CD can hold 80-minutes-worth of songs, doesn’t mean that bands should fill it up with 80-minutes-worth of songs.
Back in the old days (50s, 60s, 70s) albums used to be short and sweet. Check out Elvis’ stuff, The Rolling Stones back in the 60s used to release songs that were between 2-3 minutes long.
I’d rather go with quality than quantity.
I’m assuming you’re a PJ fan like myself, so I can understand why you’d like them to give us more.
Huge Pearl Jam fan here. Can’t wait for the new album. This is my first time learning that the album is 36 minutes. I don’t mind.
Remember: Quality over Quantity.

Could anything be more constraining and inartistic as letting a format’s capacity determine, or even influence, the creativity of a work? Jesus people.

Nothing wrong with quick songs (though most of theirs have always, except for a few longer ones). but the problem is they should add more song then.
A CD can hold ~80 minutes of music, they should use more of the space up.
