Peter Sciretta at /Film woke up to a nice surprise in his inbox this morning: the first official image from James Cameron’s “Avatar” (which will be appearing in magazines shortly). You’ve got Sam Worthington in front of a tank containing one of the avatars with that cool Cameron blue. Very beautiful. For more on “Avatar” (and the avatars, in fact), check out my coverage of the Comic-Con footage here.

Not impressed. But probably Avatar day will show more.
ho hum.
Looks like a video game screenshot. Minus Worthington, of course.
Best picture material.
Interesting.
Actually the being shown in the picture, floating on the tank is NOT an avatar. It is a Na’ Vi, one of the natives of Pantora. Avatars are robots that are used for exploring the planet, as far as I know.
I got an invite to Avatar Day so I’m totally psyched for next week!
‘Very beautiful.’
Glad to see I’m not the only one who thought so.
