Thornton cancels Canadian tour after being an asshole

Comeuppance.  From the AP:

Billy Bob Thornton’s band has canceled the rest of its Canadian tour after the actor compared the country’s fans to mashed potatoes with no gravy in a testy interview that caused a sensation online.

The Boxmasters opened for Willie Nelson on Thursday in Toronto, where they reportedly were booed and met with catcalls of “Here comes the gravy.”

A note posted on Nelson’s Web site Friday said the Boxmasters were canceling the rest of their Canadian dates “due to one band member and several of the crew having the flu.”

What is up in recent years?? All these movie stars (Thornton, Cruise, Bale, Phoenix (though most likely staged), etc…) losing control, and acting like complete assholes…

Whoa whoa whoa, Lets not let lump Bale in with these guys, he was just blowing off some steam in character and he apologized for it. And when was Cruise an asshole, for jumping on a couch? Thats not assholey, just goofy.

    Great headline by the by.

I believe Cruise was an asshole for callously insulting Brooke Shields and making judgements about her life. Mickey Rourke believed he was something else…but I don’t want to repeat it on this site.

Oh please if it was almost anyone else except for Bale acting like a jackass no one would excuse his behavior by saying he was just blowing off some steam-even with the apology. Replace Bale with Affleck or Pitt or Thornton and tell me if they’d get a free pass for being an a-hole.

I agree with you, Jim. Just because I respect Christian Bale as an actor doesn’t mean I have to respect him as a person.

I once worked as a videographer for a press tour that David Arquette launched for his movie The Tripper. I basically spent 24 hours a day with him, filming his every move from city to city promoting the movie. And it’s almost impossible to understand how taxing hearing the same questions over and over and over again all day every day. And in Arquette’s case, they were rarely about his movie and always about his wife. Luckily, he’s super humble and generous and doesn’t mind but I certainly think it’s possible for celebrities to lose their patience in a situation like that and not need to be labelled a total asshole.

I’m pissed a number of people off in my life…but never an entire country…LOL…if you can’t handle the price of celebrity in a more dignified way…then you deserve the criticism and the inevitable backlash…just my opinion.

The fact that BBobs comments could elicite this kind of national response shows what a cheese-dick, media obsessed country we really are.
I tried to listen to the Boxmasters but they truly suck. BBob is cool however for going to where Jian works and knocking the dick out of his mouth.
