‘Mysteries of Pittsburgh’ trailer

Am I the only one who had completely forgotten that “The Mysteries of Pittsburgh” was even coming out in two weeks’ time? Read into that what you will, but you’d expect the adaptation of a novel as successful and widely beloved as Michael (“Wonder Boys”) Chabon’s 1988 debut to be a bigger deal.

Still, that’s what happens when you hand it to the writer-director of “Dodgeball” and cast the yet-to-ignite likes of Sienna Miller. And its reviews at last year’s Sundance fest didn’t exactly set the world alight. Neither, for me, does this trailer. File this under “wait and see.”

Sienna Miller is so underrated. Its sad. She is better than most actresses her age.

“…that’s what happens when you hand it to the writer-director of “Dodgeball” …”

…who cuts out Arthur Lecomte, the most interesting character.

That’s like remaking “The Dreamers” but leaving out Theo.

“Jules and Jim” — eek, might send the wrong message. Can you make it “Jules and Catherine”? So much tidier.

From all reports this adaptation completely guts the novel of everything that made it interesting to begin with.

    BOO

I don’t know if my loathing for Sienna Miller (Interview aside) outweighs my love for Peter Sarsgaard. I’ll probably end up hating myself for watching this.

As a huge fan of the Chabon book, I was completely underwhelmed of the cast&crew when production started THREE years ago. We all can imagine what took so long to eventually release it in March… I hope people will ignore/forgot this film and read the novel without prejudice any time soon.

I really want to do it with Sienna. I mean…like…really, really bad.

The trailer gives me an impression that we’ve been reduced to making “film-by-numbers” movies. I feel like I had seen this movie before.

I hope it’s better and more suprising than the trailer because I like everyone involved in this movie. So…what’s that accent on Peter Sarsgaard? He sounds like that all the time and he seems to be not at all making an effort to make regional accents. Please do correct me if I’m wrong.
